The location of the hotel was okay.

Cons: update rooms, maybe add some fruit to the breakfast.
We were about 8 blocks to the beach and shopping so that was okay. We were there 2 nights. Our room seemed run down. The breakfast was good. The staff seemed polite. The lobby seemed to be in good condition. The pool was okay.

Perfect Hotel for Waikiki on a budget!

The coconut Waikiki has to have been one of the best hotels I've ever been to! My partner and I stayed in the Queensize-city view room, which had an excellent view overlooking the canal, plus the balcony made for plenty of relaxing views of the sunrise/sunset. The best part about it had to be the location, we were about a 15 minute walk from the beach, and just down the road from the shops/ restaurants! :) The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when we ended up having to book another night at the last minute, we still were able to keep our same room. All in all we would rate it 4.5/5 ★ Will be back again sometime in the future!! :)

Great hotel for the price!

We booked this hotel for a one night stay before our flight home. The hotel is conveniently located to great restaurants, shopping, and the beach. When we checked in we were told that our room was upgraded. We were pleasantly surprised!  The room was spacious and very clean.  My husband and I had booked a morning tour of Pearl Harbor that unfortunately ran 2 hours over. The hotel allowed us to have a late checkout with no additional charge. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family!

Hotel is over-rated

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cannot understand how this hotel is rated 3 1/2 stars. Internet is free but connection is very slow with frequent timed-outs. Breakfast is also free; however a variety of items should included unless you don't mind daily hard boiled eggs.

A really good "home base" in Honolulu

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
We had stayed at this hotel about 12 years ago when it was the Coconut Plaza. The new Best Western ownership and recent remodeling has made it only better! Nice breakfast buffet in the morning with indoor or outdoor seating, is a great way to get to meet fellow travelers. Refreshing cucumber water available throughout the day. Get views of either the Ali Wai Canal or downtown, both are fine. Rooms are bright and cheery, and new "green" energy system is nice, but can leave your room very warm and humid if you don't leave your card in the slot (to keep the system activated) while you're gone for the day. Comfortable bed and nice kitchenette (with sink, microwave, and fridge) gives each room a very "homey" feeling. Great location for walking easily to the beach or to shopping. Friendly, helpful staff. Will definitely stay here again, a great bargain!

Exceeded expectations

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, 1block from all major buses
We did a lot of research prior to picking a hotel and were extremely happy with our decision. The hotel was three short blocks from the beach, so easy to get to and enjoy the beach, but far enough away that it was quiet at night. The staff was both friendly and very helpful when it came to giving advice on where to go, how to get there and things to do. The room was nice and clean, and the bed was very comfortable.

Enjoyed our stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Coconut Waikiki. The hotel staff was super friendly and very courteous. We did receive a room upgrade from city view to mountain view upon our arrival because they no longer had that room available. The room was a bit small but at the same time it was just right. The new remodel made the hotel look very chic and modern. The continental breakfast was delightful it consisted of fresh waffles, cereal, fruit and several choices of pastries. The hotels location is perfect because it is in close proximity everything and you can actually walk to the beach in a few minutes. We would definitely stay here again.

Very friendly staff

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
Cons: Nothing close
Clean, quiet, well-kept hotel with a very friendly staff. Hotel fronts the canal and is a bit far from Waikiki Beach, but it is fine if you have a car (paid valet parking) and aren't planning a Waikiki Beach-centered vacation. Like many Oahu hotels, our room had a lanai and a kitchenette. The hotel pool is tiny.

Good quality for the price

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: Noisy
Breakfast was good and everything was refilled rapidly. Pool was very little but we didn't use it. We went to the beach if we wanted to swim. A good walk but not exhausting. Very good location: access to a lot of restaurants on a walking distance. Friendly and attentive service. A bit too noisy if your room is on the canal because the street between the canal and the hotel is very busy. Ask a room that is not on this side.

This was one of the best hotel experience I have ever had.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Cons: air conditioner was a little loud at night
I have to say that the staff at this hotel were very very nice and accommodating. They were wanted to make my stay in Hawaii a great one and they succeeded. Anytime I had questions or needed a taxi, they would be very happy to help. When I go back to Hawaii I will definitely be staying in this hotel again.
