"Could be better"
While the James is very convenient being only 1 block off of Michigan Avenue, I found the staff to be excellent and the set up of the rooms was nice. I liked the idea of the soft lighting that comes on at night so that you do not have to bumble around a strange place in the dark. I found the uneven floors in the elevators to be quite disconcerting. I also missed the availability of vending of any type.

"Comfort Suites convenient for Chicago walking tour"
Comfort Suites were very clean, a good price from Travelocity deal, and close to shopping, museums, and Navy Pier. The Suite's kitchen was well-supplied and appliances reasonable. The bed was aging, and I can't get used to heavy comforters outside of winter. Parking at $40 a night for a garage a couple blocks away wasn't fun, but whatever. As expected, the deluxe breakfast was no better than the least expensive hotels', stale pastries and breads, runny eggs with fake cheese, tolerable breakfast meats.

Travelocity posted breakfast included but hotel said no when we checked in. The posting had changed on Travelocity when we tried to verify at the time of check in. Parking is very expensive in that area.

Clean, friendly staff, and gorgeous! My husband and I came for our one year anniversary and we could not have been more pleased! The location was perfect, not too far from downtown Chicago, but also far enough to really enjoy the local living! Plus, the hotel is located right off of Lincoln Park and the room we had (lake view) was spectacular! The rooftop lounge was fun and my husband and I found ourselves having a drink and enjoying the view to wind down after exploring the city. We also tried out the attached café (every day!) which we also loved. The hotel staff is excellent! They sent texts before and during our stay to see if there was anything we needed, which we thought was a nice touch. Our hotel attendant, Nicole, was very friendly and even wished us a happy anniversary after seeing our anniversary cards sitting on the mantel. We arrived to our hotel that same night with a sweet towel swan display waiting for us. We would definitely choose this hotel again for our next trip.

"Beautiful hotel in the Magnificent Mile"
Gorgeous hotel with super friendly staff. The decor was great and the rooms were spacious. Lots of luxury and high end shopping within walking distance. We arrived early and were able to check into our room at 10am, which was a major plus. Will definitely be staying at the Thompson Hotel again when I return to Chicago. Highly recommend.
