Customer Service Specialist

We went to Chicago for a birthday trip for both my husband and daughter. We arrived about an hour before check in. At the front desk was Adriana who greeted me. She kindly told me it wasn’t ready but we were welcome to hang out in the lobby and she would let us know when. After about 15 minutes she came to us and said she was able to upgrade our room and check in. She asked about my daughter’s birthday and was happy to help. Even later that night I came down looking for soft Kleenex for my other child who wasn’t feeling well and again Adriana found a package and gave it us out of store for free! She wasn’t the only one. The valet team, breakfast staff and even housekeeping were all extremely helpful. I’m in the customer service business and know if my team was doing exceptional I would want to know. I was very impressed and glad they made a memorable trip even more enjoyable.

Great Location + Great Service = Great Stay

Pros: Location, service, cleanliness
Cons: Housekeeping staff woke us at 8:30 am to inquire when we would be checking out when we had already arranged a late checkout with the front desk.
Location: Shopping, dining, entertainment is all nearby.
We arrived in the middle of a huge snowstorm and the great customer service began immediately. The door was opened for us by friendly staff who told us to take the elevator to the lobby on the sixth floor, even holding the elevator door for us. These friendly men greeted us warmly every time we came and left the hotel. The front desk staff were very welcoming and made us feel like valued, even changing our room to a higher floor with a great view just because we mentioned we liked that. Michael at the front desk provided us with a restaurant recommendation and a map to help us navigate our way around. The hotel's central location made it easy to walk to most places we wanted to go, but the bell staff's assistance with getting a taxi was right there when we needed it. The breakfast food was hot, fresh, and plentiful. The room was spotlessly clean and the view was amazing. This hotel has become my new Chicago place to stay.

Great hotel

The hotel was great! But breakfast should have more options for people that don't eat pork.

Hoping for a bigger room next time.

Pros: Location near Michigan Avenue Magnificent Mile but close to the loop too.
Cons: The hotel is starting to look run-down, with rusty bathroom doors and tubs. Sort of had that beach condo thing going on, which I would not expect.
Location: Plenty of shopping within easy walking distance, and lots of great restaurants nearby. The original Pizzaria Uno is just down the street.
This is about the fourth or fifth time I have stayed at the Homewood Suites on Grand Avenue in downtown Chicago. The staff is very nice and we love the location. My girls are 14 and 18, and would not hear of staying anywhere else. The hotel is undergoing a rehab, with the lobby cordoned off with plastic, plus they are advising guests they will hear noise all day. Fortunately the hammer drills were active from a distance but they were still going an hour after the hotel said they would stop. I noticed the bottom of the bathroom door was starting to rust off, and part of the corner of the door was missing. I'm hoping this will be part of the rehab. A plus is that the doormen don't try to take your luggage away from you any more. There have been times when taking our bags in did not seem to be an option here but that was not the case this time. My biggest concern was that we were put in a corner room that was significantly smaller than any suite we had been in previously. As soon as we walked in my older daughter said "this is a lot smaller than last year." We have to get a suite so the girls can have their own space but I will know next time to request a room in the main hallway.

Located In the Heart of Downtown- close to Subway!

Pros: Complimentary breakfast and the awesome evening Appetizers including Wine and Beer selections, including purely vegetarian dishes were truly filling.!
Cons: Hotel should be more knowledgeable about local tourist attractions & passes/tickets issuance at receptions & tie-ups with hotel should be considered.!
Location: Visit & stroll downtown, Shopping for family, Big Bus Tours, Free Navy-Pier Trolley, Red Line Subway, Late night eateries, Starbucks across the street
Pros: Free: Breakfast Evening appetizers, WiFi (slow), laundry, pool, in room breakfast- self service, iron+board, 2-TV's + a Great kitchen with utensils, cookware, spoons and Corelle dishes, plates bowls etc, coil-stove, Big microwave, good fridge and dishwasher, prompt room service and request followup. Cons: Street Noise - 911 Sirens, Ambulance, fire etc, Carpets & wooden floors are OLD, No weighing scale for luggage or in bathroom. No notepads or pens in the room. AC is manual- No remote, Lobby and guest floors walkway lighting from the elevator to the room is poor and dim! All rooms have yellow CFL bulb's so the rooms are lit yellow, I prefer pure white lights so to say!

This is a great service hotel.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, Free breakfast
The best part of the hotel was the service - these guys treated us like an important customer. The free breakfast and internet were a close second. The location was great w/easy access to trains and the Magnificent Mile were a close third. After that, all the other aspects of the hotel, itself, were good. We will be coming back.
