Spyglass Inn
"I’m pretty disappointed at the way my check in was handled but am being generous with the review because the place was clean and the staff, aside from check in, polite. Here is my concern. I reserved a King room which was confirmed multiple times prior to the trip. Upon arrival, I was checked in, the parking fee, operating times for the pool and fire pits and cost of the water in the room was gone over thoroughly and, tired, off I went to my room. When I opened the door to two queen beds, I thought it was an honest mistake and returned to the lobby. Only then was I told that an entire building of the hotel had been closed for remodeling and I was downgraded to a different available room. No prior notice or even notice at check in was provided. I asked if there were any available king bed rooms or if some might be available on later days of my stay. I was told that there were only king ocean view rooms available I could relocate to for an additional $100 per night. I was told clearly that despite not getting what had been confirmed, I would not be getting one of those rooms without paying $100/night. I asked if any discount could be provided, even 50%, which I would willingly pay. No. They would rather the rooms stay vacant than discount them even 20% to a disappointed guest. I might have even enjoyed the upgraded room enough to reserve it for future visits. Unfortunately, I slept poorly each night of my stay and will not be returning. Customer communication needs work."
