"Resort on beautiful Grounds"
Resort was lovely. Furniture on balcony was for looks and not for seating on. Very rustic wood with jagged wood. We dragged other furniture out as view was great. I believe there is some renovation going on. Town was charming as was the whole area. April was off season. A variety of units were available. Went for coffee at the restaurant and received great service and great coffee. Staff could have been more attentive at check in. First, it appeared that many units were empty. We were given a unit where we had to drag our luggage up a flight of stairs. We were told we had a ground unit. The keys didn't work. When we called, we were told it was a different unit and again the keys didn't work. I had to demand assistance. The person who came was very nice and tried the keys which did not work. He gave us another key that did work.

"Great location!"
Hotel has a great, convenient location. No need to drive to shop and visit many good restaurants. Room was very comfortable, but lacking a little space for hanging clothing and no counter space in bath. Would recommend it.

"good price for a safe clean visit"
Although the motel is 1970's vintage the new owners have repaired and cleaned all the facilities(except the pool which is closed). The price was half what any other nearby hotels/motels were asking. We needed a local place to spend 1 night and that's what we got at a fair(below market rate) price. The coffee in the lobby was excellent, rooms and bathrooms clean and comfortable with free TV(cable). If you are looking for luxury go elsewhere but for a good price on a simple clean room this place is #1 in the area.

"Grand Lady. "
We always look for the unusual place to stay. This is certainly a lovely old historical hotel. Our given room however was in the old wing with view of the roof below and in line with the kitchen vent stack. Smells filled the small room and made it unpleasant to stay. Requested another room away from kitchen vent and street side road construction. After desk saw we booked on travelocity we were then given a lovely large room in the refurbished section of the hotel. Don't know why this did not happen in the first place. All staff were congenial. Place was clean. Breakfast was lovely. Know it must be a constant effort to maintain a old building such as this. We would go back after the road construction is finished.

"Best Vacation Ever"
Family stayed in a two bedrm, two bath unit with a view of the woods. So peaceful. Unit was very roomy and comfortable and in excellent condition. This was our third year staying at this resort and we will be going again next year and staying longer. The area is beautiful and close to lots of hiking trails and waterfalls. There was lots of fun things for our 11 yr old at the resort. We are always sad to leave.

"Family Friendly and Pet Friendly Hotel "
The Best Western is the only hotel in Banner Elk. The lobby is beautiful with nice leather couches around a huge stone fireplace. They have a popcorn maker with fresh popcorn all day. The breakfast is sufficient and the staff is very attentive. The rooms have coffee, refrigerator, and a microwave. Many people had dogs and there is a place in back to walk the dog which has poop bags. This is a older hotel which has been updated. The beds were comfortable, but since the building is original, the walls are VERY thin. We had a room with kids next door which woke us up at 6 am both mornings. Screaming, talking loudly, crying, etc. Also, the heater/air is an old floor unit under the window which is loud when it is on. The temperature control is an actual thermostat on the wall though so you can control the temperature. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and would still recommend the hotel. The hotel was booked since it was the Woolley Worm festival. The location was close enough to be able to get to the festival without sitting in miles of backup, but far enough away to be out of the traffic when not at the festival.
