"New York hot spot"
New hotel, young staff as good or better than any hotel I've ever stayed, including maids and service. Rooms smallish, but comfortable, modern, gigantic TV, great shower. New York hot spot, packed with pretty people. . Five Stars for sure.

The Gotham Hotel

16 E 46th St, New York - Map
we liked the Gotham Hotel experience. We would recommend the room have more lights! More lamps with larger wattage bulbs. In case you drove to hotel, know there is no valet parking. This can be a huge problem getting to nearest garage in traffic. Howver it is a convenient, very easy distance to Grand Central and subways!

Wyndham New Yorker - New York Hotels

Wyndham New Yorker

481 Eighth Ave., New York - Map
"Grand Ol' Lady"
The New Yorker Wyndham Hotel is one of the older, but grand hotels, in New York. For what it lacks in elegance, it makes up for it in its art deco architecture. Since it is an older hotel, it needs a cosmetic face lift such as new carpets, paint and overall upkeep. I have no complaints about the staff since they were all courteous, professional and always helpful. My room was small with no view. The bathroom, likewise. No complaints there because I took the least expensive package when I booked my trip to New York. I wasn't expecting much and that's what I got. What I didn't expect was this hotel hosted quite a few luminaries of old and one of them was Muhammad Ali. There is a museum in the basement chronicling their visits. And it is free. But the wifi, fitness room and business room use was an added $30 per day charge. Their in house diner, Tick Tock, was very convenient specially because they were open 24/7. It served a variety of dishes that were surprisingly good. I had the salad nicoise with grilled salmon for dinner on night and an eggs benedict with lox for breakfast on my last day there. The hotel's location is about a 10 to 15 minute walk to Times Square, a block or two north of Madison Square Garden, about a 10 minute walk to the piers for the bay tours and about a 7 minute walk to the Port Authority. Location was conveniently close to Koreatown. Lots of places (holes-in-the-wall and nice restaurants and fast food joints) around the area.

White Plains Hotel & Travel Guide

Just 25 miles north of New York City, White Plains is a suburban mecca. A shopping hub for the surrounding areas, it becomes a bustling city in the daylight hours but retains its small-town feel after hours. Book your flights and White Plains hotels and explore the birthplace of New York State.

Out and About in White Plains

A historic city, White Plains has an abundance of historical sites. First settled in 1683, it was the site of the Battle of White Plains during the American Revolution in 1776. Today, you can still visit several sites that General George Washington used as headquarters: the Jacob Purdy House and the Elijah Miller House, both of which have been restored. The Silver Lake Preserve is another great spot to explore; trails run through woodlands and grassy fields, and small streams and old stone foundations are hidden throughout the 236-acre nature preserve. Additionally, the Westchester Philharmonic, the sole professional symphony orchestra in Westchester County, is based in White Plains, and the 5,000-seat Westchester County Center hosts concerts, sporting events, and trade shows for the greater area.

    Eating and Drinking

White Plains has plenty of restaurants scattered across town and within its major shopping centers, like The Galleria. Almost all of the hotels in White Plains will put you in close proximity to White Plains' great selection of dining. However, the year-round farmer's market should not be passed on. It pops up right in the middle of the downtown street during the warmer months and takes place at the Westchester County Center for the rest of the year. Travelocity can help you find cheap hotels in White Plains, and if you book hotels and White Plains flights at the same time, you can save up to $537. Travelocity's White Plains vacation packages can help you experience a different side of the state of New York.

*For these packages, package savings is at least equal to the cost of the flight or hotel if booked separately. Note: For packages including flights, you will be charged by the airline for the flight, but your savings on the package will equal the cost of the flight.
