"We've stayed at the Whitcomb Summit several times in the past and have no illusions about its funkiness. However, this time we felt as though, with its newer management, the charm was lost. The manager did call me prior to our arrival to say she would be off site and that our room would be unlocked and the keys and receipt on the desk. No sign of her for the rest of the night. It was also apparently being used for 'long-stay' guests, which is necessary in this day and age, but a little unexpected. Although our room was spotless, the common stairwell was filthy. As much as we've enjoyed staying there in the past, this will likely be our last stay. Also, as we had to leave a day early for family reasons, we were not given a refund. Besides not being checked in, we weren't checked out either. Too bad. This place is a diamond in the rough. Spectacular view, third rate accommodation."
