MoonRaker Beach Hotel

Green Garden Bay, Landsdown, Silver Sands - Map
"Budget basic hotel"
This place is located in less fashionable part of the island. Don't expect the quality and convenience of Hilton, but the place is OK and a real bargain for a party of 5+. The neighborhood looked safe for families with small children. It is away from the tourist activities and swimming beaches on the west coast. In order to get around you have to rent a car or use buses. There is a bus stop in about 10 minute walk from the hotel. The official government bus service is rare, but a "ZR" bus "11" stops there every 2-5 minutes and will take you northbound up to the Hilton/Radisson area with good beaches (it takes about 45 minutes from the hotel to get to "Pebbles beach" near Radisson). The driving style of those buses may appear a bit dangerous though. If you want to go father to the north you have to study the schedule, plan ahead, and everything becomes possible. Or just get a taxi.

Silver Point Hotel

On Silver Sands Beach, Silver Sands - Map
We stayed at Silver Point Hotel (SPH) for CropOver/Grand Kadooment week. The hotel grounds including beach, scenery, boardwalk, ocean view, etc. was quite impressive. Loved the style of the hotel boardwalk, etc. However, I thought the rooms were pretty standard of a good 3 star hotel (not what I expect of a 4 star). The bathroom functionality was not nice at all. The wood fixtures look nice but wood and water does not compliment each other. Hence, some areas look rotted, scummy, rusted, etc. Even on our balcony doors were rust. We stayed in the loft style room which was pretty cool but as a frequent traveler--Ive seen much better. Our fridge wasnt even stocked with basics like water bottles, soda, etc. This is a 4 star hotel right and thats something 2 star hotels offer...wasnt impressed with the rooms. Maybe other rooms are better. We stayed in the primary building with the reception office. I dont know if the building across the street have better rooms or if the non-loft style rooms make a difference but I wasnt the least bit impressed with the rooms. Other than the 'partial' ocean view which was gorgeous for what we did see...the rooms were nothing to boast about. Anyways, in terms of the area (Christ church) its fairly close to the airport which was great for our 1st & last day -and it wasnt too close either where you would hear airplanes all through the night. We took the Zed-r-V vans numbered vans almost everywhere...only cost 2BBD/1USD which was awesome. The official (blue/yellow) buses are the same price. So traveling around is farely cheap. In fact, it was cheaper for us to take taxis/buses everywhere than to rent a car for our stay. The hotel restaurant wasnt impressive. I'm a bargin hunter so I felt prices were too expensive. Maybe you'll think otherwise. As for food, it was american with certain carribean dishes. I dont like going to another country only to eat the same food. I want to experience the country like a local which means eating local food, bajan food, not american food. So I wasnt happy about that. People who complain about not having american options in foreign countries need to stay home because it deficits the purpose of traveling and learning new things. hmmm what else can I add? The receptionist was helpful but only to a certain extent. Often times she seemed like she only wanted us to book activities through SPH which is understandable but if we can find better packages/prices else where obviously as customers thats what we're going to do. Other than that we never saw of spoke to employees because they were often unseen. Except for the wonderful, young spirited lady at the restaurant, I wish I remembered her name, but she was great. Recommended parties for us, and a few other places, how to get around town, etc. She was awesome. Overall, silver point hotel was average to me. I do plan to stay else where for our next visit not because its a bad hotel but because I would love to experience more from a 4 star hotel and perhaps a hotel located further north near st. lawerence gap, accra beach area. Good luck with your travels and I hope my review was helpful :)

"Comfortable Hotel"
The facility was better than expected, good food, wonderful night life and friendly staff. The beach was a bit disappointing since there was a lot of seaweeds and the water was a brownish black colour. We had to travel about 15min to nearby beach to enjoy sea bathing.

Sea Breeze Beach Hotel All Inclusive

Maxwell Coast Road, Oistins - Map
"Amazing Atmosphere"
Once you enter the resort, you are welcomed with a smile, a drink and a wet towel to cool down. When you enter the room, there is a pamphlet telling visitors the rules of Barbados which I think is great. Its very simple: make eye contact with the people and smile. Everyone is so kind and sincere on the island. There is an adults only pool where it is very relaxing. There is another pool where families have great fun and is near the fish pot restaurant and sand bar. Again, staff is super friendly and serve you upon any request you have. Only issue is the beach. Talking to the staff, it has been a recent, since April, natural incident where brownish seed weed covers the beach. Visibility is non existent, however, the staff allows two FREE bus rides to brown beach (one at 10am and 12pm, both buses return at 3pm). It is only a 8-10 minute bus ride. Brown Beach is amazing. There is clear water and amazing views. You can find fish and star fishes in the water (and other cool creatures I'm still trying to figure out lol such as an invisible sting ray that lays underwater in the sand). MAKE SURE to borrow snorkeling gear from the resort in ADVANCE, people take them quick. There is much to see underwater at brown beach, just be attentive and have fun :] Also, many locals offer deals to watch the turtles on a boat. It may be a great steal to get that offer on the beach than the resort where you would have to pay $65, but on the beach you can get on a boat and swim with turtles for $15

Overall a good experience. Decent continental breakfast, rooms are nice, staff are very helpful. There were some minor drawbacks that for us (due to personal preferences) detracted from the overall experience. However, if u like surfing, this hotel and its surroundings will be more to your liking. I will give them a 4 rather than a 3 because the front desk staff and cooks were excellent

"Great place, great location"
This is like a home away from home. It has a kitchen so you don't have to spend money at restaurants. It had a dishwasher and washer and dryer. It is located right on the beach with plenty of shade and beach chairs. There are bars on either side and he the nightlife is great b/c it is located at the end of the gap. It can be noisy at night and even if you love the sound of the ocean, leaving the windows open can invite mosquitoes.
