"The set up with the pool in the middle and balconies looking down was so neat. Kids loved the pool and the hotel was in a great location, walkable to many things downtown."

"Thirty years ago my wife and I toured Quebec City on an extreme budget. We vowed that if we ever came back, we would stay at the Frontenac. Last week, we kept our promise to ourselves.
I’m not sure how much I can add considering the Frontenac is the largest hotel in the city, a hundred or so years old, and the most photographed hotel in the world.
Our room was very expensive and very small. It was clean and well appointed. Cocktails at the beautiful lounge were priced to the stratosphere, but carefully crafted and beautifully presented.
We were able to check us in early when we arrived around 1 pm. That was nice. There’s evening turndown service, which is also an elegant touch.
The only real disappointment was the housekeeper didn’t refresh the coffee pods after the first night’s stay, and I’m not a happy camper in the morning until I’ve had a cup or two. On our way to dinner, I reported to the front desk that we needed pods for the machine.
The desk clerk apologized profusely, typed furiously into her computer and promised that this would be corrected immediately. When we returned for the evening, the room had been turned down, but no coffee pods. It wasn’t the biggest crisis since there’s a Starbucks in the hotel basement and nice coffee shops within a block or two of the hotel. But, at these prices, this kind of inattention to detail was a surprise.
I’m glad we came to bask in the history, but if you’re looking for either true luxury or economy, stay elsewhere."
