Nice location, great staff, needs a deep cleaning

On the surface it's a very nice hotel, wonderful staff and awesome location on the beach, but we were place at the end of the hall by the stairs and the outdoor stairs area were really really worn down, gross carpet outdoor along outdoor hallway to get to the rooms. So a face lift in some areas would help a lot to bring it up to match the initial image of the hotel. The breakfast was exceptional and the view is perfection.

No air conditioner.... The waves were too noisy... too hot and too noisy to sleep.

Decent hotel at the water's edge.

Pros: Walking straight down to the sand & beach, complementary chairs, umbrella & towels (+ staff to bring them to you and set up) are the reasons to stay.
Cons: Website should mention that they DON'T have A/C! The sand-filled pool crammed with children jumping in w/their boogie boards! No supervision :(
Location: Centrally located to beach, downtown, restaurants, Festival of the Arts, etc.
Beautiful hotel, but for the price, we honestly expected more. The room overlooking the sand & surf was very nice, marred by the fact that THERE IS NO A/C. Not a huge deal the majority of the year, but this past weekend was a scorcher, so coming into the room (even with the sliding doors left open) was like walking into an oven. There is a ceiling fan, but it's not enough when the temperature skyrockets. The hotel is much smaller than one might expect from the website photos. The front lounge (adjacent to the driveway) is nice and large, but the restaurant and bar are tiny. The beach staff was very nice -- the front desk needs serious help and training. Stopping at the front desk, we asked if they could send a new comforter (ours was old and lumpy) and a plumber up in 2 hours (we needed to sleep before heading back out). Walked up to the room, and ten minutes later the phone rang - it was the front desk, saying the repair man was at our door. We said we requested someone coming in 2 hours, and the front desk rep said "Well, he's at your door NOW." At least the sink got fixed. Fifteen minutes later, knocking at the door. I woke up to find a housekeeper there with a comforter. Half-asleep, I asked why she was there now. She said the front desk didn't give her a time to arrive. I pointed out the DO NOT DISTURB card posted in the key slot, and she said "I thought that was there by accident." Asked her to return later, and she said "Can't I just leave it with you?" :(

Location Location Location

The location was fabulous. We checked in at 4 - however, our room was not available. We finally got in and had an amazing view. The hotel does not have A/C, so we had to keep the slider open - I love waves, however, with the loud waves outside our balcony and both fans running, it was hard to get to sleep.

Lovely hotel.

Pros: Location
Cons: More channels to choose from - TV. The cost of ordering movies was rather high.
Location: Laguna Beach is a great 'get out of LA for the weekend' place. Good restaurants and bars. Nice people.
I had a very good experience. Bright, clean, and comfortable room. The Staff was very attentive and welcoming.

Amazing Hotel. Right on the Beach. Will be coming back

Pros: Free Internet, breathtaking view
Loved waking up with the ocean sounds and an amazing view(especially at sunset). Very attentive staff, and friendly valet service. Very comfortable bed, and furniture. Enjoyed every minute at the hotel. One small inconvience is that the room has a combo bathtub/shower with a small door to shield the water splash. And taller people will have an issue with this and the bathtub drain closing when stepped on. Very minor inconvience in comparison to the magnifigance of this place. Direct access to the beach and a nearby tide pool. Access to all of the local attractions and a great place to relax. Highly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful place to stay

It was like having your own beach house on the sand with a full staff to take care of your every need. It's not cheap, but, if you want a very special place to stay in Laguna, it is hard to beat. It is a real "wife-pleaser." My only negative was that they had no Wi-Fi, at least in the area we stayed and cell reception (Verizon) was very poor. On the other hand, we did not go down there to be on the phone and the computer.

Loved the room so much that we extended our stay

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
They had just upgraded the rooms and the room was wonderful. We had an ocean front room and the view was superb. We had a small balcony that was set up with comfortable chairs etc which really increased the overall experience. We would definately book again..

Rude and Dishonest Staff

Due previous problems, we were offered a complimentary room for 2 nights and a reduced rate after that. We accepted their offer and booked a 2-week stay. We checked in to our first room, which was not facing the ocean. This room type is not listed on their website, so we had no idea that our view would be the parking lot. I contacted Pamela Hopkins (assistant to the VP of Hotel Operations), with whom I communicated prior to our stay, and I copied Joanna Bear (assistant manager). I shared with both our frustrations and asked if we would be able to, as we were originally offered, stay in our Oceanfront Towers King (OTK) room for the duration of our stay, since it was available. (The 2 complimentary nights were in an OTK room but the other nights were not.) My first email went ignored; after a 2nd email, Pam said she would look into it the morning of 7-30. Through the evening of 7-29, when I searched for availability online, 4 different oceanfront room types showed up. On the night of 7-29, we asked about availability at the front desk and were told that rooms were still available. But the manager, Lisa Silva, overheard our conversation and immediately told us that no rooms were available, which was a lie. I asked a friend of mine to call reservations the next morning, 7-30, before we stopped down. My friend spoke with Heather, and she told my friend that MULTIPLE OTK rooms were available. 15 minutes later, my husband went down to the front desk and spoke with Tammy, who said that NO OTK rooms were available. Tammy then said that one room was available for all but one day and she and Pam were going to see what they could do. But, a Seaview room came up on the online reservations system without restrictions for the entire range. When we still had not heard from Tammy, we called and were told that we could check into a Seaview room. On 8-1, the front desk manager (Elaine) gave us our key with a smug smile and said, it’s on the first floor. The first floor Seaview rooms have very little view of the ocean (due to the solid wall on the patio) and are perhaps the loudest because of the location directly next to the pool and Splashes. Bottom line: try the Montage, St. Regis or the Ritz, but stay away from Surf and Sand.

Great view, great rooms, great staff

The hotel was far more beautiful than i expected. The guys at guest services and concierge people were great. The restaurant's is a bit overpriced but thats almost to be expected in Laguna Beach. Most of the time I ate at French 75 across the street and enjoyed my great balcony right over the ocean
