Not worth the $$

overall felt i overpaid for everything and left feeling taken advantage of instead of relaxed and satisfied. the Kalia tower only has room service 4hrs (dinner) a day and no microwave in your room, so you have to eat every meal out and cannot take leftovers home. That would be fine if the restaurants were great, but you're going to pay top $$ for food you can get at home for half the price. I booked a luau and did a 90min presentation to get a discount only for the concierge to INCORRECTLY tell me it was cancelled. Found that he was mistaken after following up about my refund, which sucked and then was given the run around to get my $$ back. Paid $179 for a cocktail cruise that was more like a college keg party (yes solo cups) and mystery meat meatballs.

Very disappointed- never will visit this

Very disappointed- never will visit this. Major ripoff with resort fees, parking fees, expensive food and drinks with below average rooms. Irony they call this a resort. I am a Hilton Honors Gold member and the service is the worst I have received

Fix check in

Pros: The room was clean and large, the bed comfortable, the environmental controls worked well. The elevator fast.
Cons: Security was lax. Worrisome in today's world. MUST FIX CHECK IN. How about a digital check in Kiosk? How about a supervisor
Location: Location was great 40 years ago. Now if you are american go to the East end of Waikiki. Nothing but orientals and others I guess focused on shopping?
I can't believe that this Hilton Hotel allowed check in to exceed 3 hours!!! They didn't put on extra staff, they spent up to 30 minutes with persons that were either clueless or needed to be passed off to a supervisor. After the first 2 hours all I wanted to do was cancel and go down the street. I realize they have people of many languages from all over the world with various levels of intelligence checking in. That is where you have a supervisor to pass those people to so you can move the line. I have never encountered such a mess and will not be staying there again. I've had phone calls from Hilton telling me I could get two free days, of course coming with the "90" minute presentation. You can count on the fact I will NOT be taking them up on that. by the time we spent 3 hours standing in line to check in the entire day was ruined. So much for a calm tropical vacation. The pool was small and full of children from all over the world. It was also mostly in the shade of the Hotel. Who in their right mind would want to use it? Cesspool. Happy hour at the casual bar was a joke. Price of drinks was 50% greater than nearing anyplace downtown.

Pros: The staff was very helpful.
Cons: When you arrive by shuttle the check in is not well marked.
Location: The location was close to shopping and dining for casual and fancy.
We liked that it was near the beach and there were plenty of options for shopping. The tour desk was very helpful. We loved all our tour guides. We also enjoyed the luau.

Hawaiian Waikiki Village is convenient

Check in was a pain. Had to wait 20 minutes on line at around 1130 pm. They claimed they did not have a king bed even though that is what we booked and tried to claim they were giving us a "very" large room to make up for not offering what we booked but only after they tried to upsell us a different room and made us feel like we were getting some secret special room by signing up for Hilton Honours membership. The check in lady also told us she would check on a king they following day but no one ever followed up with us. We had our 15 month old with us and once we settled into our double twin room we just let it slide because it would have been a hassle to move. The bellhop broke our organic peanut butter and although they were apologetic they replaced with sugary Skippy. Also, the bellhops took 20 minutes to bring our luggage to the room (another reason we didn't try to push for the room change the following day). Our overall stay was great because this is Hawaiian paradise after all but we were pretty unimpressed with the Hilton's customer service and just felt like pocketbooks, not people, by the staff. We never ate on the premises because the food was astronomical ($40 for breakfast for example) but the pools and beach access were great and did the job.

Nice hotel in the heart of it all.

Place is really nice and the staff is wonderful. Only had two issues with service, one with the manager Eugene and one with the Tropics restaurant. The grounds are very well kept despite the construction. The Tapa Bar makes the best Mai Tais. The shops and restaurants are a bit pricey but we expected them to be. The only real complaints we have is the the restaurant and manager. The Tropics restaurant delivered cold teriyaki chicken and rice to my son and slapped together the worst looking $15 nachos I've ever seen. The manager was real nice and accommodating about it though. The other complaint would be with Eugene, the manager, that guy doesn't seem to give a flip about the guests. He must be listening to too many complaints or something. I was standing in line for almost an hour while waiting to speak with him. The four people in front of me just got progressively more upset while talking to him and he seemed to just brush it off. I decided to be nice about my issue and he seemed absolutely bothered. Guy needs more training and is almost the exact opposite of the wonderful people who work there.
