"I love this place. The luggage trolleys make a TON of noise, 24/7 as they run the halls, and there was construction, without disclosure, so it was not amazing as usual, but it's still a first class experience."

"Positives: the host was very responsive and respectful and addressed concerns . There were plenty of dishes and cutlery and having an air conditioner/ heater in each bedroom is nice. The unit is gated and locked which feels safe and private. Negative: In the effort to be transparent so others can make informed decisions . Unfortunately, our experience with this unit was very different from what was portrayed in the listing photos. After arriving and spending the night, we noticed multiple concerns including a strong odor in the home, visible water damage and deterioration throughout the property, damaged electrical outlets that did not feel safe to use, and windows without proper locks. The condition of the home appeared significantly more worn and neglected than expected. The host was polite and did agree to refund the unused nights after we communicated our concerns, which we appreciated. However, we ultimately did not feel comfortable or safe continuing our stay and checked out early. I would encourage the host to address the maintenance and safety issues, as the property has potential to be really cute and nice but currently does not match the condition presented in the listing. I would encourage people to ask about repairs before writing the property off because like I said , it has a lot of beautiful potential"

"Very clean accommodation. I felt safe. Hotel management makes safety a priority. Although this is a boutique hotel without a lobby with coffee or drinks, there is a 7-Eleven a couple doors down and plenty of coffee shops and eateries about a 10 minute walk up the street on Piedmont Avenue. Only thing that was a little concerning was that the windows are single paned and sound carried very easily into my street facing room. The hotel manager reassured me that the rooms that are away from the street don’t have the same issue. "

"LOCATION - 5 Stars - Great, especially if visiting UC Berkeley; next to restaurants and shops and steps away from the University STAFF - 2 Stars - There were only 2 or 3 young girls at the front desk that we met during our 3 day stay. All of them looked unhappy at their job and seemed a better fit at a Thrift Store. CLEANLINESS - 3 Stars - much to be desired, specifically in the bathroom. Let's just say I was not about to use the bathtub. Throughout the room and bathroom, it looked like a deep clean was much needed. RESTAURANT - 4 Stars - Nothing spectacular, my salad was not fresh, but prices were reasonable and the service was fast. OTHER - 3 Stars - There was a very strong smell in the lobby, which I could not say what it was - candle or something else. While the decor in the lobby was interesting and inviting, it seemed that students and random people could just come in, buy a coffee and sit there using their computers. The room was a good size (we had the corner Campenile view) however, it did not feel clean, there was no pen, not even a single piece of paper to write a note. The Front Desk lobby area did not have any interesting materials on the area, what to do or see and I was not about to ask the front desk ladies, they did not inspire much confidence. There was no concierge either. Overall good location, but not even a 4 Star hotel."
