"Beautiful old hotel. Pity about the queue. "
This is a beautiful old hotel right on the beach in Waikiki. Most is good - including location, hotel and rooms. Only negatives are: * Huge queues for check in and check out (they really need more front desk staff). After a long flight its torture. * Rooms are tight on the small size. Maybe to be expected for old hotel. Note to management: Fix the bug in express check out to allow people entitled to late checkout to express check out. If you are having staffing problems as you obviously are, this would help.

"Best Trip Ever!"
One of the reasons we love this hotel is because we are always treated like family. Thank you to Mike Nakada, Roland, Evelyn Alanda and Lawrence. They were all very helpful and attentive. The reason we return. Chuck and the beach services staff are friendly and accommodating on the best beach on Waikiki. It is so relaxing just to sit and enjoy the view. The tower view of the ocean and Diamond Head is amazing. The sunset is beautiful. We love the historic section of this hotel, but the tower is a fun change of pace. We absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone considering a trip to Oahu. It is peaceful and the surrounding gardens are beautiful and well maintained. Mahalo to our Hawaiian family.

"Comfortable and Affordable"
On my recent stay at the Ohana East I found the hotel to be very comfortable and centrally located to all the best spots in town and the best beach outside of Duke's. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean but they could use an update. The air conditioning never really got super cool and the water pressure in the shower was not that good but overall for the price it was a good hotel. I would definitely stay there again.

"Good location, friendly staffs, helpful concierge"
Location is great with Waikiki within walking distance. Hotel staffs (front desk, concierge service) were extremely helpful. Check-in process was quick. Resort fees apply for internet, beach towel, and amenities. Did not utilize the amenities on-site but they seem to be in fair shape. Internet setup was in poor condition. Ocean view room (especially at higher floor) is worth the money with the balcony.

Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa

"Spring Vacation"
We spent a week at the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki. We chose it specifically because we wanted a variety of activities and it's centralized location, knowing it was more touristy than other Hawaiian locations. Specifically for the hotel: The lobby and throughout a lot the public space was under renovation. You have scaffolding and crew working all day and parts of the evening. From the looks of things, once they are complete, the hotel will look pretty nice. It was just a bit annoying to have to walk around the construction to avoid breathing in the spackling dust. The other negative was the ability to go from floor to floor. (ie. hotel room on the normal floors,Laundry room on 4th floor, Pool on 3rd floor, Lobby on 2nd floor and take an escalator from Lobby to street level). The elevators are very packed and There are escalators to go between street up to 3rd floor, but they were no operational due to renovations. This made waiting for the elevators to go one floor very annoying.

"Wonderful Experience"
The hotel overbooked, so we were upgraded to the Sheraton Waikiki Beachfront Hotel. It was awesome there. Services were wonderful and the hotel and grounds were beautiful. The only negative was that we couldn't stay longer.

"Highs and Lows of Manoa Valley Inn"
Lovely old house, beautiful woodwork and wallpaper, funky Victorian decor. Staff very nice, but limited English. All rooms on 2nd or 3rd floors; family occupies the ground floor. Our room (Dole) on 3rd floor had 2 sleeping spaces - in the main room the bed was pretty good, in the smaller room, which had the tv, the mattress was lumpy. The room has a wonderful window seat. Bathroom is under a sloping ceiling which makes tub almost unusable. No coffee in the room and no coffee available until 7am downstairs. Wonderful breakfast served on the back lanai with fresh fruit, pancakes & eggs made to order, sausage and assorted Asian dishes. Beautiful, lush back garden.

"Great place to live, but not a romantic getaway."
I would definitely live here or stay for a long while, but as far as romantic getaway, I would stay further down the strip. BEACH The beach out front was rockier than other parts of the beach, and had rental peddlers dominating the best spots. It was also close to the pier where the boats came in, so there would occassionally be floods of tourists invading the beach. LOCATION The walk from the hotel to the International Marketplace is a bit of a trek, but it is close to Wailana Restraurant and Cocktail Lounge which is a great place for breakfast (try thier coconut pancakes) and late night karaoke. We slept with the lanai door open, so there was a lot of street noise that woke us up every morning (imagine garbage trucks and beach combing tractors). ACCOMODATION I didn't know from reading the online reviews of this place that it's a condominium with owners renting out their flats. It would be great for a long vacation where you need things like a kitchen and a washer and dryer, but we were looking for a romantic getaway and this was a little too practical for our taste. STAFF The staff was super friendly, and we really loved the front desk guy

"Worked for us."
This hotel was perfect for what we wanted. It is away from the tourist hotels and close to the airport. We were visiting our Son and his family and were only at the hotel at night to sleep. The room was great, lots of space. They kept it tidy and clean. The only problem we had was the restaurant staff came out after they closed and smoked and laughed loudly and talked about 2:30 am. Not a great wake-up call. However, we called the front desk and they took care of it right away. There is very little available near the hotel such as coffee shops, stores, etc.
