"Nice spot!"
We were upgraded to a room with a King size bed and it felt like a penthouse suite. Nice high ceilings, warm and friendly decor, clean, spacious. Excellent overall. The shower was a bit weak but folks in this area generally have to use water catchment for home water use so it is expected that the pressure would be conservative. This lodge is in a great location with lovely ohia forest surrounding and very close to the park entrance.

"Condo in great location for a reasonable price"
Started out real bad. I made the booking and my 80-year old mother and friend arrived and were denied access because I was not present. Same last name, same address, same credit card. Had to call Travelocity to change name and confirm with hotel. Very unpleasant. Then they felt bad got extra spacious rooms and whatever perks possible. Outside of that great service, great stay for two weeks. Lots of trips from that central location. Close to Waikoloa reposts and shops such as Queen's shops and King's shops. Traffic near non existent, compared to the incredibly busy Kona area. Costco close enough with their gas station and warehouse. Good restaurants in the vicinity, excellent Luau in Waikoloa hotels. Easy to reach Waimea, Honokaa with the Waipio Valley, easy to Hilo and Volcanic Park via the fast road, avoiding Kona traffic. A 10 minute walk to KTA store, also restaurants and a gas station right there. Fantastic views of sunsets and sunrises. Comical turkey flocks roam around, as well as the protected Nenes on the golf course. I like cooking and baking and everything is in the condos. Air conditioning is included in some packages not in others, make sure you know. I have stayed there before and was impressed. One thing needing attention is the Wifi which is intermittent and slow.

"Beautifully appointed condo"
Everything about this stay and the staff exceeded our expectations. Except--when we arrived, our room wasn't ready and there were other guests who had been waiting several hours for their rooms. Our room was ready within the hour and we were most pleasantly surprised at the condition of the suite. The receptionist did an excellent job deflecting the unpleasant feelings of the other guests as they waited impatiently (some of them). The grounds were beautifully landscaped and immaculately kept. It was quiet and peaceful and we loved it. It is not very close to the ocean--but I knew that when I booked. I would be happy to stay there again or refer it to others.

"My favorite hotel on the Big Island."
Over the years we have stayed at several different places on the Big Island; this is our second stay at the Mauna Lani. I cant imagine staying anywhere else. The hotel is beautifully designed and landscaped with both salt and freshwater ponds. The beach is clean and easy to access. You can snorkel right off the beach. I hate it when hotels add the extra $25 resort fee, but we did get beach cabanas, lots of towels, snorkel equipment, parking, internet and pool equipment and more all for that price. The staff is outstanding. Many are long term employees, which I think speaks well for the hotel. If i have a complaint it is about the food. Dinner options were more limited than I like and the restaurants in the hotel close at 8:30 PM (maybe this is different in High season, ?). The breakfast buffet has a good selection of food though I thought overpriced. I was disappointed in their upscale restaurant, Canoe House. There are lots of other restaurant choices however in the area. We were upgraded to an ocean front room. It was heaven; we left the patio door open at night and feel asleep to the sound of the ocean waves.

"Best place to stay in Hawaii"
We stayed here for the first night of our honeymoon in March 2015. We are so glad we did! We got in just as it was getting dark and briefly saw the waterfall from the patio on our way up to our room. The bed was very comfortable and when we woke up the next morning we took the short trail down to the bottom of the gorgeous waterfall. It was amazing! Really felt like we were in Hawaii! The staff prepared a delicious breakfast and after breakfast we walked the other way down the trail to the bamboo gardens where we saw some other smaller waterfalls. It was an easy walk and so romantic! I would highly recommend staying at least one night here if you are going to Hawaii. It is closer to The Hilo airport but we flew in to the other airport and it was about an hour drive. The staff helped us set up a helicopter tour and we got discounted tickets for staying there. Really loved our stay here!
