Such a fun place to stay! We enjoyed the historic site and the information about the hotel that was in the room. The bar and restaurant downstairs was very convenient.

We arrived at 3:30 to discover our room wasn’t ready even though check in was for 3. What was disappointing is that we didn’t get an apology for it, just a “feel free to wait in the lobby it will be another 30 minutes.” I completely understand that things happen and am happy to be flexible and accommodate, but it would have been nice to be offered at least a complimentary drink while we waited. The room was lovely, clean and we were grateful for it. Upon leaving when asked about our stay I mentioned the disappointment for not getting an apology the night before and she was very kind and apologetic. Honestly, an apology goes a long way.

Disappointment.

We booked a o e night stay here as our last night in Ireland at the end of a two week trip. I have to say we were disappointed. It was not inexpensive and I thought we were paying for the charm of staying in a castle. Honestly, we could have been staying in any airport Holiday Inn (no offense to Holiday Inns). The lobby was interesting but the hotel corridor and rooms were as basic as could be. Nothing charming at all. The bed was soft (old). Bathroom also looked aged. Towels were large, a plus. Breakfast was extensive but floor of the restaurant was sticky. This was the noisiest hotel I have been in in a very long time. We could hear people running above us late into the night. We could hear the bass beat of music playing below us. We could hear doors closing up and down the hallway. Seriously, it became comical. And you are far from everything except a lovely promenade walk (bit of an industrial view, but seaside and beach as well). I do not recommend this hotel. It is overpriced, and lacks castle charm save the lobby and exterior.

Upon check in reservations was for two people not the three that I had thought was booked. In 17 days traveling this was only hotel that was improperly booked. Which staff made abundantly clear was my issue not theirs! Could have been but resolution was to supply folding bed which didn’t show up so cancelled and asked for comforter or blankets. They showed up with sheets explained they were out of blankets. Booked so Grandson could stay in Castle, big mistake!

Splurge, but worth it!

This was my last stay in Ireland and I wanted to stay in a castle! The hotel was grand and medieval looking. Beautiful at every turn! There was even a wedding and parties thrown each night there. We were very comfortable with the King bed and air conditioning! However, no convenient stores or quick shops nearby. There’s a bar/ restaurant on property tho was a bit expensive. Especially for my soda loving mom. The property did provide waters. This was a great treat for the end of my trip!
