"This rustic old hotel's ambiance is a welcome place to rest after day hikes in Yosemite National Park. It's in Groveland, about 50 min. down Hwy 120 to the NP's Big Oak Flats entrance. The area seems to be about as close to the NP as you can find (aside from the Rush Creek Resort (which is significantly closer and in a different hotel class). David at the front desk has a really warm personality and voice, and jumped to get the tub drain and really hot water working in our room. There was no housekeeping so we just did some on our own. The was no closet and not much room to open luggage or walk around, so best not to bring a lot of stuff. A/C was effective but too noisy to use at night. Funny thing is I still liked the hotel because it was so casual and sort of felt like camping with the convenience of a real bed and bathroom, plus there were some reasonable to good meal choices within walking distance as the hotel is on the main street. The building has a colorful history that kind of makes sense once you stay in it. Huge plus was a Tesla EV charger on the side of the building - very convenient! There's a VARTS station across the street if you want to take a bus into the NP to avoid parking challenges. This area is also quite close to some of the major Tuolumne River white water rafting outfitters. Kudos to the Groveland Hotel. It's a sweet place to stay if you can be okay with everything not working and don't need chain hotel predictability."
