"Nice hotel near Yosemite"
Cons: Standard Rooms listed as " including fireplace", but fireplace was not included. Internet fee, and dinner is expensive. Bathroom was clean, but worn mirror edges and counter had discolored damage. Entry door sticks possibly due to weather. Front desk said that river side rooms with fireplaces are more and there were no openings. Differences of no fireplace or location is not listing at time of booking. Pros: Close to Yosemite. Room is clean, quiet, and dark. I am noise and light sensitive. I slept very well. Bed was comfortable. Friendly Staff. Excellent waiter in dining room for breakfast. Our room was on the 3rd floor.

"2nd close lodge to the Yosemite Park"
Since it was very hard to find a place in the Yosemite Valley, I picked this place to stay in order to visit the Yosemite National Park daily. We stayed for the Christmas. My consideration for this place was its closeness to the park. Since I do not spend so much at the hotels or lodges, I can not say anything about some amenities. Here are pros: 1. It is 20 minutes to the Park Entrance (on Hwy 140). There are two more lodges in El Portal, also check the bigger one, Yosemite View Lodge as well. 2. There is mini restaurant and bar (but closes at 8:30 PM), and swimming pool. 3. Beds are comfortable (stayed in King Bed), plenty of pillows which are very nice 4. Room was clean, there was a mini fridge. TV was small but I didn't care. Cons: 1. No Cell phone coverage at all. (could be the same for other El Portal Lodges) 2. No free Wi-Fi. You need to pay $10/day if you want, however it is very slow so just use free one in the valley (i know the other lodge, Yosemite View Lodge, has free Wi-Fi) 3. No hair drier in the rooms (in person I do not mind, but my wife does). 4. No extra blanket. It was cold outside and we do not like to turn on "loud" heater all night. I always bring blanket in my car in case during the winter trips, so we used it. Mornings were 8-12 F :) I'd prefer the Yosemite View Lodge first, and if it is booked, then I recommend this lodge to anyone who likes to stay very close to the Yosemite Park.

"Nice place to stay. "
It is an older motel. It was clean, and the hotel staff were very accommodating. A secluded please in the woods. A good economic comfortable place to stay.

"Bed and shower close to Yosemite"
Just the basics. (And to be honest for what I paid I would not have expected much more so close to Yosemite.) I was too tired from hiking to notice whether the bed was comfortable or not. Towels were skimpy but good enough. I plugged in my phone/alarm clock by unplugging the flat-screen TV and running an extension cord to the bedside table. There was a space heater on the dresser that supplemented the faint in-wall heater nicely, but the only way I could find to plug it in was to drape the power cord across the door to the bathroom. (The lamps were plugged in somewhere behind the bed that I couldn't reach.) The ceiling light/fan combo made the room too cold so I just used the bedside lamps. I would have really liked to soak in a tub after hiking but my room only had a shower stall. For that reason alone I would not come back here. Several reviews mention they provide breakfast but that's only mid-April to September. Closest restaurants ten miles down the road in Groveland proper. One of the buildings has a fridge on the porch. Picnic tables and BBQ grills looked pleasant but I ate trail mix in Yosemite instead.

"very nice motel with super friendly staff"
This recently remodeled motel is a very casual, clean and comfortable place to stay when visiting Yosemite National Park. It has an excellent cafe, and the staff are very friendly. It feels more like you're staying with friends and family - kind of a hybrid of a hotel and a bed-n-breakfast. If you need something, don't be afraid to ask.

"Did not stay"
Got to hotel at noon. Proceeded to our destination (Yosemite Park) and found the park was too far away from the motel. (42 miles). When I tried to cancel our reservation I was told the reservation had been made thru Expedia and a one night stay penalty would be charged. When I insisted it had been made thru Travelocity and gave them the Travelocity confirmation number they still insisted it was an Expedia reservation. They called me back a few hours later and told me that because of the mix-up they were going to cancel the reservation with no penalties charged. This showed class and we appreciated the gesture. Due to the great accommodations offered for the price we would definitely stay there when in that area again.
