I awoke to ants/bugs on me. Jumping out of bed, ants were swarming all over our dog’s food bowl. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough! Sheets were thin and scratchy, overall condition of room and motel was poor, shower was terrible, hallways filthy.Dog walking area was sufficient and tv had access to Netflix. When checking out and telling desk about ants, was met with a blank stare. We have stayed at many La Quinta, and this was by far the worst!!

When we checked into the hotel and arrived in the room it had a strange odor like an old attic badly covered by Lysol. I was so thankful I packed a Bath & Body candle to rid the smell. About a hr into that room we started having issues with the television. It kept freezing and the screen kept going grey, you couldn't utilize any of the apps on there such as Netflix or Google movies. So I called to the front desk and asked for a new room. They moved us down the hall to a different room which also had a bad old mildew smell in it. Just when I think things couldn't get any worst I go in the restroom and there is old poop around the bottom of the toilet frame from the previously guest. I look in the tub and there where long brown strands of hair in the drain. Talking about utterly disgusted. I had to shower with a towel on the shower floor because I was disgusted and line the toilet with paper before every use because I was scared the room wasn't properly sanitized. The beds were missing comforters we only had two thin sheets on them we had to turn the air down because we were freezing. The television was way smaller than the room we were placed in before which I found odd. Just overall disappointed with my stay. This location is not to be mistaken for the Romulus location, which I thought I booked. Romulus's location is clean and newly renovated, smell great, never question their cleanliness. Southgates location is the total opposite, unsanitary & smells terrible! Never again

The price was affordable with easy access to freeway and the bed was comfortable. Room could use a little update, but was clean.

Unfortunately.....

Unfortunately I didn't read the reviews until after we had booked our stay. I was hoping for the best since it was only going to be a 2 night stay. We missed our flight so it turned out to be a 1 night stay. The lobby area looked ok, once we stepped into the elevator I could see that things weren't kept as clean as I would of liked. The hallway carpet was in need of cleaning, the walls needed cleaning. My wish I had some windex mode kicked in. Once we were in the room I really wished I had some cleaning supplies. Nothing had a sparkle clean look. This whole place needs a deep cleaning, carpets need cleaning. The nice lady at the front desk asked how was everything.......I didn't say anything. I thought it is what it is. If they don't see it...... When we book another family reunion this hotel will not be one that will be booked again.
