West Virginia, referred to as the Mountain State, became a key historical area when it formed by seceding from Virginia during the American Civil War. Although it's rich in history, there's plenty more that draws people to the state. Whether it's the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains or just the glee you'll experience by seeing where the Hatfield and McCoy feud actually played out, you'll find something worth the visit.
If you're looking for cheap flights to West Virginia, you should aim for November to February, as this is when you won't have to contend with masses of tourists. In addition, you'll also get to enjoy events like the Winter Festival of Lights in Wheeling and the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting in February. If visiting during the high season - May to October - consider reserving one of the hotels in Charleston, WV. Numerous events, including May's Vandalia Gathering and June's FestivALL both take place in the city. When getting your plane tickets to West Virginia, note that the Yeager Airport is about 10 minutes from the city center, so you may need a cab. Elsewhere during this busy season, you can check out the Strawberry Festival in Buckhannon or the Mountain State Arts & Craft Fair in Ripley. If you enjoy skiing, you should visit during January and March. If this means you aren't around during the aforementioned events, you can check out Seneca Caverns, Harpers Ferry, and Prickett's Fort State Park regardless of when you arrive. Also make the time to stop in Morgantown or Parkersburg if you're close. They were named two of the "full-on foodie towns" in the Mountain State.

very clean and comfortable with nice breakfast Friendly and helpful staff
Clean room, friendly staff, would stay here again for sure. Bed was hard but that seems to be common theme with all hotels these days. A/C worked great, always a plus.
