They gave us & other people the wrong customs paper when entering Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Had to refill another customs/embarkment paper and custom person was upset that we didn’t have the right form.

What airport is best to fly into Puerto Plata?

How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Puerto Plata

Make your journey to Puerto Plata a little easier by following these handy security tips:

  • Ensure your passport and boarding pass are easy to reach. You'll need to produce them straightaway.
  • It's helpful to know that metal belt buckles can set off the body scanner's alarms. If you have one on, you may be instructed to remove it before continuing.
  • Everyday electronics such as phones, laptops and cameras need to be sent through the X-ray machine separately. Make sure they're within easy reach.
  • Traveling with your favorite perfume? As long as it's no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and it's stored in a clear zip-lock bag, you can keep it in your hand luggage.
  • Airport security staff may instruct you to take off your shoes before entering the body scanner. Choose a pair that you can slip off easily. There's nothing more tiresome than having to do up your laces over and over again.
  • Pocketknives and corkscrews are prohibited inside the aircraft. Tuck them away in your checked luggage to avoid them being confiscated at the airport security checkpoint.
