FAQs about Lake Tahoe Flights

What airport is best to fly into Lake Tahoe?

You don't need to look up flight options into multiple airports when jetting into Lake Tahoe. Reno, NV Airport (RNO-Reno-Tahoe Intl.) is the city's only airport, located 31 miles (50 kilometers) from all the action downtown.

How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Lake Tahoe

These handy hints and tips about airport security will save you a lot of time and energy on your journey to Lake Tahoe:

  • Make sure you know the location of your boarding pass and travel ID. You don't want to hold up the queue when you're asked to produce them.
  • You'll have to pause the tunes for a short while. Earphones must be taken off and put in a bin to be X-rayed. The same applies to items such as coins and keys.
  • All laptops must be removed from their protective carriers and placed in a tub before being X-rayed.
  • Deodorant, toothpaste and other toiletry items in cream, liquid or gel form need to be stored in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters). They must also fit in a 1-quart (1-liter) clear resealable bag.
  • Untie your shoelaces as you approach the body scanner. Depending on the type of shoes you've got on, security may ask you to remove them.
  • Put any pocketknives or other dangerous items in your checked luggage. Security personnel don't allow these on the plane.
