"Not bad, for the price."
The Good- The hotel is in a convenient enough location- about a 10 minute walk from the JR station at Shinjuku. There's also some pretty large department stores nearby, and a variety of restaurants both inside the hotel, and the surrounding area. At the time of my stay there was free wifi and wired internet in the room, and laptops could be rented for ~1000 yen a day. There's also several restaurants in the hotel, and 24hr convenience store (two, I think. Not sure if the basement one is 24hrs or not). Oh, and the airport 'limousine' to/from Haneda or Narita stops in front of the main entrance, which is nice. The Bad- This is definitely an older hotel. The rooms are worn, and it's clearly seen better days. The AC is either inadequate, or nonexistent. Some visitors complain of cigarette smell etc. and it is noticeable on some floors. Not a problem for me, but anyone who has allergies etc. might want to look elsewhere. The beds are very firm, which may not be for everyone either. (But a great thing for me, at least.) Other- At the time of this posting, I was told that they were planning on renovating the building in the next month or so. Hopefully it'll work out, and they'll take care of the AC issues. If you're on a budget, or traveling alone this hotel will probably work for you. Not sure if I'd take a family, but I haven't seen what the multi-person rooms are like.

"Conveniently located near subway"
We found the hotel to be conveniently located next to the Oedo (E) and Fukutoshin (F) subway line and 15 minutes from the Shinjuku main station where the JR line is located.  We took the subway around metro Tokyo quite often so this helped us out quite a bit. For those coming from Haneda airport, take the Kekyu line at the airport and transfer at Shinagawa to the JR Yamanote line. From there, you can transfer at Shibuya to the Fukutoshin (F) line and exit the Higashi-Shinjuku station. Take exit B2 which will lead you right to the doorstep of the hotel (to the left of the exit). It should take you about an hour more or less to arrive. This tip will help you get directly there! Previous to booking this hotel, we read online reviews recommending to stay in Roppongi but a Japanese friend of ours recommended not to stay there, and we later read posts about clubs in Roppongi where local Japanese women drug foreigners drinks and trick them out of their money!!! Anyway, although the hotel room was small compared to US standards and should  probably be given 3 stars, the convenience of the location gave it 4 stars. We were there a total of 4 nights. Some people may consider Shinjuku to be sketchy because of Kabukicho which is considered their red light district but we never felt in danger and found that there were a lot more restaurants open 24/7 as well as an interesting nightlife experience.  I would stay there again when in Tokyo.
