This was one of the worst hosting experiences we’ve ever had. The house itself was fine, but the host’s behavior afterward was shocking. He gave no checkout or cleaning instructions, yet my group still left everything tidy: trash bagged and outside, dishes in the dishwasher, towels stacked neatly. Despite that, he invented false claims and slapped us with 2,000 in so-called “damages.”His accusations were absurd. He treated harmless water spots on the glass patio doors—caused by splashing in the pool—as “damage.” He complained about towels being wet, even admitting in writing that he doesn’t always wash bedding between guests. That alone raises serious hygiene concerns. He also twisted his own rules: his house manual clearly says liquor left on the bar is for guest use, yet he misrepresented our compliance as “drink containers left all over.”The truth is simple: the only real issue was a small heat mark on a table, which we admitted to and offered to resolve. Everything else—water droplets, trash bags, drinks placed neatly—was blown out of proportion to justify fabricated charges. Even worse, he admitted his staff “didn’t have time to fully clean” between stays, which explains why he tries to pass off normal cleaning as guest “damage.”Future renters beware: this host is dishonest, hostile, and clearly looking to squeeze money out of guests. Document everything, avoid using the pool, and prepare to be blamed for ordinary wear and tear. For your own sanity, stay elsewhere
