When you are staying at a new to you hotel things can be "overlooked" when the staff is friendly and inviting.
We had to wait in line multiple times to get our room key. Once in the room it was very apparent that the air conditioning was not working. The temperature in the room was registering at 33°C (91.4°F). We reported this to the front desk immediately. We were told maintenance would be up to fix it. Since we had a planned excursion for the evening, we left with confidence that we would return to a cool room. However, that was not the case. With a total of 6 hours and 3 complaints later we were moved to another room. When the hotel manager (Carlos) was called in to address the issue, he did not acknowledge us at all, there was no apology for any inconvenience or a sense that the matter should be expedited. The new room while cooler, was not what would be expected for a hotel in Mexico.
The staff in general was not friendly, no "bueno dias" when leaving or entering the front doors of the hotel. The wait staff in the Bellavista restaurant (the hotel buffet) seemed off put when taking drink orders, which had to be ordered multiple times, as the original order seemed to be "forgotten". The property itself was littered with trash that was never picked up. Empty cups and cans around the pool area and beach that were not picked up our entire stay, even in the walkway outside our room, where housekeeping was daily.
I will NOT stay again or EVER recommend.
