We just returned from a 6 night stay. It was our third time renting in Windsor at Westside, and our first negative experience.
Pros of Property:
Space- lots of bedrooms, two “family rooms”, the game room was a popular spot for our older kids to watch tv.
Layout- the bedroom/ bathroom layouts, the living space, and the dining/ kitchen were all good. There is a king master downstairs with an en suite that opens to the pool, and two en suite rooms upstairs- one with a king and one with a queen, FYI.
Kitchen- the kitchen came with most everything you’d need, the layout and size was perfect.
Seating- we had a party of 15, and the living spaces combined offered enough places for everyone. I’ve rented homes before where the couches were small, and that isn’t the case with this house.
Parking- two spots in the driveway and extra spots at the end of the street, within a quick walk of the house.
Cons of Property:
Beds- the beds were hard and uncomfortable.
Ants- I saw in another review that there were ants by the pool. We brought ant spray and used it all within two days. There is a major ant problem both by the pool, and on both sides of and all across the driveway. They were everywhere. An exterminator really needs to be brought in.
Trash- there are benches by the front doors to put trash in. In previous rentals, it was picked up daily. Here, it sat all week and wasn’t picked up one time. Our garbage was overflowing. Other people had overflowing benches by their door or bags out by the curb, which made the street unappealing. We saw rats and raccoons as well, no surprise.
Pool/ Hot Tub- the temperature of both was set to 95. While not a huge deal, the pool was really too warm and the hot tub too cool. We used them daily, so it didn’t ruin the trip by any means, but it isn’t really sensible either.
Miscellaneous- there were no bath mats, no pot holders, the kitchen trash can was tiny, the cutting boards were broken, the air hockey table was broken, and the AC units had no filters in them. Again, maybe not a huge deal to some, but worth noting.
Would we rent this particular house again? Not in its current state. It needs some improvements for sure. Some of the problems aren’t the fault of the home owner or rental group (trash pickup for example), but most of them are. The layout and size are perfect for large groups, but I feel the issues were too much for me to give this house more than a 3 star rating.
