The south rooms are basically new and very nice. One or two things are head scratchers for me, but overall we had a fantastic room and great bed. Food in the food court is good, staff is very accomodating, access to the rim is easy and close. Don't freak out when the train pulls in in the morning. It's fairly quiet and generally you only hear the horn as it pulls in, and only the rooms on the east side of the lodge see or hear anything. This place is less than a quarter mile walk from any room to the rim. The Bright Angel trailhead is due north of the lodge, and so is the main bus stop for Hermit's Rest.

The room was clean and quite nice. Only issue was the mini fridge was so cold that it froze all of our veggies/fruits. Otherwise, the hotel (South Buildings) was relatively new and modern. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Place was fantastic, staff friendly, great location, fantastic pricing. Good room sizes, however that damn thermostat light it is so bright i had to cover it up. And the crazy part even with it being covered it was a nightmare its so bright why? That was annoying we could not sleep other than that it was great
