This hotel is so unique and beautiful. I regret only booking it for one night. If I ever come back to San Juan I will use this hotel again.

Absolutely unique, quircky Inn full beautiful original paintings, small sculptures, gardens n a funky pool- and gorgeous parrots! Original stone, brick, plants, fountains all through the archways of this mini- labyrinth on 1st floor- a real Moorish feeling to this unique Inn!! We loved relaxing on the velvety divans amid the art. Our room on top floor- reached by a spiral staircase- had a rooftop patio overlooking rooftops and the sea!! Loved this inn!!

Keep Looking

My experience with the Gallery Inn was disappointing. Our first room was dank, windowless and had two twin beds, though I'd reserved a queen. We were going to leave without a refund rather than stay there. After much pleading we were moved to another room which wasn't much better. It reeked of mildew. The shower and windows leaked through the walls into the main area and the door to the balcony was rotted off its hinges. A good nights' sleep was impossible. The walls are so thin that the you couldn't escape the sound from the street below and the guests across the hall getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. And parking was not adequately addressed at check-in, so we ended up with parking tickets our first night at $250 a pop. When I told the clerk she said we were lucky we only got two, other guests had received more cause the cops can ticket every twenty minutes. So even though the hotel had notice from previous guests that this was a problem they didn't pass that information along to new guests at check-in. Usually that kind of critical information is part of the guest services package and mentioned at check-in. On day 2, I learned that a nearby parking garage only charges area hotel guests $13 a night with proof of stay. I asked a few clerks if they knew this and the answer was a resounding no. This business is not run like a business and guests suffer for it. If charm is what you're seeking -look elsewhere. You can find it without sacrificing comfort.

Magical

Pros: The artwork, the atmosphere and the entire experience.
Cons: Just be aware, there are many stairs and not suitable for those with disabilities.
Location: Location is close to many restaurants, shops and San Juan Fort on the ocean.
From the moment we walked in through the gates until the time we left, we were absolutely mesmerized! Everywhere you look there is beautiful art, plants, stonework and more. This is not your average lodging. All staff members were all so helpful with anything we needed. My husband and I loved wandering through the Inn looking at the art, personal photographs, wall hangings and furnishings. I don't know when I have ever been in a more relaxing and beautiful place. The bed was so comfortable and we slept so soundly. The room was nicely furnished. Our room was very small with no window, (which we expected when we booked), but we weren't there to sit in our room. Other rooms were very spacious and beautiful.

Beautiful gem in Old San Juan

Pros: The unique charm. The quiet, tucked-away corners. The personality.
Location: A few blocks south you will find the heart of Old San Juan. Plenty of night-life, historical buildings, and the beach is only a few minutes away.
The Gallery Inn truly blew us away. We knew this hotel would be different than any Hilton or Sheraton. It's a boutique hotel with a history. Parts of the building are hundreds of years old. But it's a home that has been loved and cared for. It's beauty and charm must be experienced in person.

Cool older hotel about 400-500 years old

Very cool hotel on the outskirts of Old San Juan. Very glad we spent our first night here in Puerto Rico.

Wonderful hotel with a beautiful view

Pros: The view from the roof and the room was lovely as well.
Cons: Keep the breakfast out longer
Location: The old forts are walking distance. Really everything in old San Juan is walking distance and the area where they fly kites is a great spot too
My girlfriend and I arrived late at the hotel but the guy at the front desk was very nice and got us into our room in no time. In the morning breakfast was already out and a guy was playing the guitar for all the guests and it was amazing. We went to the roof and the view was perfect. Beautiful views no matter where you turned. I absolutely loved it.
