This was not the property I singed up for. The property I signed up for was Travel Lodge which was 5 blocks closer to Pier 39 than the one we were put in. Also the property we were placed in said "free parking" but the place had limited parking. If we moved our car and lost our spot, we would have to park on the street or pay to park in a lot.

Never again!

My family and I checked in Saturday 11/26 and checked out 11/28 on Sunday I woke up and was itching on left side of my chest, later in I was itching more different areas of my body but still towards the left side. I then started noticing I had bites which I believe to be bed bug bites as I sleep on my left side and have bites on my back, arm, hand, chest, eyebrow, and forehead all to the left side of my body a few on the other arm and hand but mainly on left side. This grosses me out to think it was most likely that and my kids slept there too thankfully they slept on other bed and isn't see them with any bites. we also found hairs on towels and cups so cleanliness was not that great.. I would never consider staying there again!

One of 2 branded hotels on Lombard

Pros: Close to major sites: Coit, curves, Palace, beach, pier, etc. Mostly updated (except carpet), fresh paint, fresh interior,fresh bathroom
Cons: As a Southern boy I wanted a hot biscuit and gravy breakfast. this was a minimal cold BF, Cereal, juice, donuts, etc.
Location: Location was awesome: pier, Palace, Coit, bridge, Chinatown, beach, and many others.
I read reviews that basically trashed this hotel; however I found it totally acceptable. Howard Johnson, all be it an old name is still branded, the only other one was Comfort Inn at $75 more per night. Lombard street is the best location: easy walk to curves, pier 39, Palace, Coit tower, Chinatown and bridge (if you are savvy you will know what I mean). THE GOOD: Fresh paint in the room, clean, updated and large bathroom, comfortable bed, good AC, free breakfast, location (see above), competitive price, many families, shuttle service from SFO ($16 per person) THE BAD: old carpet. not enough parking, small dining area for FREE breakfast. Beyond the hotel: don't rent a car, use UBER. Download the AP. Uber will take you from airport (~$50) and to everywhere in SF (my experience was $8 to $20 at peak drive time). Would I stay again or recommend? 100% yes. I hope my review counter acts the people that gave bad reviews, If you want a Hilton, go stay at a Hilton (far away from these sites). If you want to be close to SF sites go HoJo.

Save your money

Pros: Location only
Cons: Scrub the tub clean,buy new towels and linen's take some pride in your business.
Location: The location is great it is within walking distance to everything in the pier area.
We booked this room and we're extremely disappointed. The room was dirty the towels were gray and worn out,they once were white. Also the sheets were worn out and old with blue pilling on them. Now the shower/tub were so dirty we went out and had to buy bleach to clean it.. We were trapped and couldn't get another room. Save your cash!!!!! Find another motel/hotel in the area.

The hotel was what you'd expect from an "affordable" place downtown.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: Noisy, not clean
This hotel was in a great location - lots of restaurants to choose from nearby. The wifi was also great. Although the room wasn't super clean, and the bed not super comfortable - it was the most affordable place to stay in downtown....you get what you pay for.

The hotel was just Okay.

The hotel and staff were just Okay. The room was dark and with a musty smell. We even went out to purchase a can of Febreze to freshen the room. The bedspread was stained with what looked like cigarette burns. It did not look or felt clean. The cleaning staff forgot to leave us fresh towels on day 2 of our stay. There is no elevator. This hotel is on a very busy stretch of Lombard Street and it was very noisy. We would not recommend this hotel for an extended stay.

Good Value for San Francisco

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: Noisy
The staff was friendly but didn't seem to want to help, they were more concerned about the soccer game on TV. The parking was nice, smaller but more secure than the street. The rooms were clean, smaller but had nice storage space and bathroom. The bed was hard and the pillows were okay. It was very noisy, the widows were very thin and the walls as well. We were woken up by a loud banging noise from the upper portion of the atrium. I believe it was the owners, they were cleaning things and yelling at about 6:30 in the morning. Other than that the location was nice, close to many great places to eat, also close to transportation. We used the bus system to get down to the Warf and back. Very easy to use. Over all I would say the hotel is a good value for the money, I wouldn't recommend it to people with small children.
