Nice close to convention center but not to beach

No clearly sign for info desk to assist the customers. No helper around to assist the new comer like our family when we entered the hotel. Very helpful for valet parking with big sign when we were arrived due to no self parking lot. They said HHonor room but it was not at all. No tooth paste no tooth brush no Qtip. No magnified mirror for make-up; the room were small but clean. We were surprised that it was Comic cons. We had a great time for family reunion

Should have listened to the mediocre reviews. It was overpriced for what we got. The type of room we booked wasn't available and they changed without telling us. Then they wouldn't refund the difference. The location is good but nothing about this hotel is spectacular.

I was not impressed this time

Cons: No free Internet
I checked into room #915, No refrigerator??? Kind of strange, blow dryer was not working, toilet was not flushing right. I stayed here in the past, parking went up....very expensive to park your car over night and the swimming pool was dirty. I was not a happy camper!!!

Good location nothing special hotel

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: No free Internet, Noisy
The location is great in the Gaslamp district. It is across the street from the Convention Center, walking distance from ok shopping, Petco Park, waterfront shops & tons of restaurants. The hotel it's self is nothing but a very expensive Holiday Inn. The rooms are small, the beds are small, the bathroom is small and poorly laid out. Everything including the hotel provided hairdryer lays out on the very small vanity. We stayed for a full week and saw the concierge at their desk twice. A hotel at 100% occupancy should have a concierge everyday. THe valet parking is $40 a day but there are parking garages for less close by, as long as their is not a baseball game you can probably get a spot.

Excellent location!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
Being right at the entrance to the Gaslamp Quarter, this hotel was an excellent choice in regards to location. Everything was within walking distance...100+ restaurants, entertainment, Village Seaport, the convention center and Petco Park (Padres). Would definitely stay here again.

Total ripoff!

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: Poor breakfast
This is a hotel that the moment you checkin youll be surprise with extra charges. They even charge me for a fridge!!! Its suppose to be free for how much they charge me for my stay. And valet parking per day is $40. Too pricey for a subpar quality!

pretty close to perfect

Pros: Free Internet
I liked everything about the Hilton -- the room was spacious, even luxurious; the staff was friendly and helpful; the bar and the outdoor firepit were pleasant; everything was just fine. The only criticism I have (and it's a tiny one) is about the hotel's advertising. It says the hotel is "in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter," but it's not; it's actually at the very edge of the Quarter, and you have to walk a couple of blocks to get to a very active part of it. That was no problem at all, but at the same time there was no need for the ad to exaggerate in that way.

Nice hotel, though felt unsafe and taken advantage of

We stayed at the Hilton two nights and will never return. We were told we were "upgraded" to the Loft portion of the hotel. Never mind my husband, with a bad knee, was pointed to a flight of stairs to climb up and down each day in order to cross a courtyard, to access another elevator, which smelled like cigarettes, to reach the loft portion of the hotel. Construction workers used the elevator all day and it was either full of people, materials, or smoke. The courtyard door into and out of the building was left propped open so the workers could have easy access. I was told it would be closed at dark. When we arrived back at 11:30pm, it was still propped open with a rock, leading right to the elevator. Great security. The loft portion of the hotel also has no wi-fi, which I wasn't told about before we settled in. So even though my room came with free wi-fi, I had to go down the elevator, cross the courtyard, down another elevator, and go back to the hotel lobby to access the un-secured Hilton wi-fi. The valet parking was $40 per night. The garage one block away was $10 per night. Guess where we parked? The staff was pleasant, but the hotel is a 'do not return.'
