The hotel itself was situated in a great location and is beautifully decorated. The rooms were very clean and spacious. However the bed was rock hard and did not offer the best night's sleep. I am not sure I would stay here again for this reason.

Getaway long weekend in mid-winter

Pros: Very clean and staff is wonderful. Room was spacious and comfortable. Excellent service. Restaurant was roomy, comfortable, and excellent cuisine.
Location: Nice location - convenient to shopping, restaurants, and local sights.
Gave this long weekend getaway (3 nights/4 days) as a Christmas present to my wife. We are big fans of southern Maine but had never stayed in Portland proper. Decided this would be a first test, and wanted to stay in the Old Port. Could not have been a better getaway! Hotel is perfectly located, near the shops, restaurants, and water. Hotel is very clean, and nicely laid out. Staff is superb, very helpful and accommodative -- and genuinely friendly. Hotel's restaurant is also great - impressive menu and food was delicious. Our room was very clean and comfortable, spacious for two people. The bathroom satisfied my wife, who enjoyed the wide vanity with plenty of room. Very nice stay, and we'll be back for sure!

This hotel was more than I expected.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Arrival was made quite easy by driving right into the garage where a representative of the hotel greeted you and then parked the car. The front desk was welcoming and we were in our hotel room within minutes. The room was furnished tastefully and was quite comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and a nice touch with terry cloth robes. The room that faced the street was not noisy. The location of the hotel was fabulous and easy walking distance to the many attractions. Would stay there again without hesitation.

Have always had good experiences in our 5 or 6 visits

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
I really can't imagine why all the negative reviews - we have stayed here 5 or 6 times over the past 3 years and have always had a lovely time. Staff is excellent, especially the front desk & valets - with whom we had most of our dealings. One visit we had our small dog accompanying us. The bar and dining areas are intimate, very comfortable and pleasant. I was comfortable being a single diner on a number of occasions. The food, although with not a huge number of choices, especially if you are staying for a week, is very good. The Crab Louis is fabulous. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

Absolutely Wonderful!

Pros: Close restaurants, great service, bikes
I can't begin to say enough about the staff at this hotel. We planned to meet some friends and stay one night at the Portland Harbor Hotel on our way to Nova Scotia. We were traveling in a jeep with a pop up camper and kayaks on the roof. Because we couldn't fit into the parking garage, they arranged for us to park at Dimillos. Even though it was only a short walk they offered us a car to pick us up. Our jeep was running rough and we were worried we wouldn't make it to Canada so we dropped it off with a local mechanic. The hotel was kind enough to send a car to pick us up. We extended our stay one more night and they suggested we take their free bikes over to Peak Island to pass the time while we waited for our car. Great suggestion! Peak Island was beautiful and not a bad place to wait for car repairs :). Overall, the hotel is wonderful, the service outstanding...and what could have been a horrible experience made better by their outstanding hospitality.
