The hotel is nice, but the rooms have very thin doors, which means you hear every single thing in the hallway. Grabbed my complementary coffee and went for a walk, but only got a block before turning back because I didn’t feel very safe. The street right out front is definitely alive with unhoused folks.

Very weird layout. The bathroom had no sink, and the only sink was on the opposite side, on the other side of a wall from the bathroom. Bed was smack in the middle of the room, with the mini-split AC unit just blasting air right down onto us while we slept. We were given wet towels. They didn't provide house-keeping services for us.

We enjoyed the hotel. Friendly staff, nice room with comfy bed, convenient location for a concert at Revolution Hall and close to restaurants on Division. Stay on the back side to avoid street noise.

A quaint hotel in a terrible area. The hotel is on the busiest street in portland and is old enough that its sound proofing is non existant. Air conditioner also didn't work.

The staff is pleasant and helpful. It’s a Nice looking place, but poorly constructed for the location. Either the contractor didn’t understand noise mitigation or the owner was too cheap to do the job right. In other words, street noise couldn’t be more pronounced if you were sleeping on the curb.

$40 for valet or you can street park. Lots of homeless around. Rooms are noisy because of the location. Staffs not very welcoming. We had a dark shadow of dirt or mold in our shower and notified the front desk. Nothing was done about it while we were there. Beds are comfortable though.

Broken AC unit
We booked into our 1 night stay at the Grand Stark and left a couple of hours later. To start off, the woman at the front desk was really unpleasant and had an attitude with me and her coworker. After entering our room we learned that the air conditioning unit broken. The front desk kept saying that they would try to “reset it” and by the second “reset” we decided to check Google reviews. The hotel had reviews from the last two days that there was air conditioning issues and the hotel was knowingly booking rooms with no ac. Mind you, this is during a 90 degree 4 day heatwave in Portland. The front desk was unapologetic and said that the manager would not be in until 11:00 pm. After the 3rd attempt in following up we were given his card to contact him ourselves. The hotel provided us with a refund after I contacted hotels.com. The manager was apologetic and eventually answered our email but the rest of the team were not hospitable or willing to problem solve. What a waste of time and a huge inconvenience to our trip.
