Would stay again.

Pros: Convenient location. Less congested area than midtown. Area felt safe to be out after dark.
Cons: Faster elevators.
Location: Walking distance to the waterfront, Wal Street Bull, and Brooklyn Bridge.
Location is convenient to the waterfront. Staten Island Ferry and Governors Island Ferry piers are within a 5 minute walk. The subway station is at the top of the street; a 30 second walk from the front of the hotel. Lots of food and bar options in walking distance. There is a pharmacy at the top of the street for any personal items/snacks. The Wall Street Bull statue is a 3 minute walk away. The hotel itself is nice. All of the common areas were clean. The fitness room had 3 treadmills, an elliptical, and free weights. The staff was friendly. The room was small, but I hear that is typical in the city. It was fine for two people. The room itself was clean. The bed was comfortable. Shower was hot with good water pressure. The AC worked good. Only inconvenience was having to wait for the elevator. The building has 3 but we frequently had to wait 2-4 minutes for one. But, this was a minor issue. Overall, it was a good stay. Also... Awesome complementary warm cookies at the front desk.

Great hotel

The staff is great! The location is great! It's walking distance to Battery Park, Brooklyn Bridge, Ground Zero. The subway is across the street. Super easy to get uptown. The room is nice, our shower leaked a lot and our key box didn't seem to want to work(both little things). Overall it's a small good room. The elevator takes awhile. They have construction going on across the street. It didn't seem to wake us or bother us at all. I would stay here again.

Great location in lower Manhattan.

Pros: Location was perfect for what we wanted and the price was right. Buffet breakfast was average, nothing special but it got the day started.
Cons: The elevators (3) were slow and very small. Took forever to get one of them. Room was small, bathroom very small, shower door leaked, fan didn't work
Located a few blocks from Battery Park, Broadway, Wall Street, subway(s). Not far from 9/11 site and lots of good restaurants. Went to NYC to ride the Five Burough bike ride and had a great time.

Thank you for being our guest and for sharing your experience with fellow travelers. We are thrilled you enjoyed our convenient location and value, but we apologize for the elevator wait. During peak hours of operation, our elevators can incur longer wait periods. Thank you for your detailed review and we hope to be of service to you again should you return to the city. Weekend in New York

Cons: The hotel should honor the terms of the Travelocity site since they agreed to be listed on it.
Beware!!! - I opted to pay at the time of check-in but the hotel charged my card for 300 dollars prior to my arrival for a room that was only $254 in total. I could understand one night as many hotels do that but to go over seemed strange. When I protested, to ask why they charged in advance and for the higher amount, they tried to say it was Travelocity's policy to allow payment at time of arrival and not theirs. Never had that happen at other hotels I have used from this site. It was a bad beginning. Hotel elevators are slow to arrive. There are no service elevators so hotel staff and guests mingle together as laundry carts, maintenance staff and maids make their rounds. You will want to leave well in advance to wait for the elevator if you have an appointment.

Dear Many NY Visits, Thank you for being our guest and for taking time to leave feedback. I am sorry our team did not provide you with a clear explanation of the charges during the check-in process. The extra $50 authorization to your card is a temporary hold to cover any incidentals, in the event you incur any during your stay. If no incidental charges were incurred, the $50 hold is released and becomes available again in your personal account. This process may take up to one week; however, most banks will release the hold as quickly as a few days after your checkout. Thank you, and we hope to see you again soon. Perfect location

It's the perfect location for a tourist, the subway was right across the street, within walking distance for battery park and the Statue of Liberty...lots of places to eat within walking distance. Tony was great at setting up car service back to the airport! Antica, the restaurant adjoining was over priced and very underwhelming on food taste and wait staff.

Nice hotel in a great location,

We just got back from a 5 night stay here with a group of friends for sightseeing NYC. This area is so great! The weekends are quiet, but it's close to great restaurants, battery park, & the seaport. Subway stops are so easy you can get anywhere within a half hour. The hotel & staff were nice. Elevator extremely slow. Rooms were very comfortable & small which is typical of NYC. The people - staff at the hotel, tavern next door, staff at stone street restaurants, & fellow guests were so nice. Such a pleasure. We had a blast!

Great location downtown

DoubleTree is hidden away on Stone Street, right near everything but away from the crowds and bustle of downtown. We were greeted with delicious --and warm!-- cookies at check-in. Damian at the front desk was charming, professional, and extremely quick checking us in. All the staff were extremely hospitable, in fact. Lobby on 2nd floor was spacious with couches and easy chairs to use while utilizing wifi or waiting for the elevators. Our room was extremely comfortable. Roomy enough to walk around in, with coffee and teas, (to go with our cookies!), great room service selections, and the most comfortable bed and pillows. Lounging in bed over breakfast was truly a luxury. The hotel is nearest Bowling Green and the 4, 5 trains but easily walkable to destinations downtown -- Fraunces Tavern, National Museum of the American Indian, Staten Island Ferry, Statue of Liberty, Battery Park, Trinity Church, 9/11 Memorial, etc.! Great restaurant in the hotel and many wonderful places to eat nearby, just walk around. I appreciated the out-of-the-way aspect the hotel had allowing me to just blend in and walk around, which I love. We were even given goodbye cookies upon request at check out. All in all, a marvelous experience at a charming hotel.
