"Reliving great historical luxury"
Thoroughly enjoyed the exposure to days of old magnificence. So appreciated being able to see the décor of the era & magnitude of the ship. Learned a lot from different presentations. The staff was very accommodating & friendly. Can't wait to see "The Mary" after the renovations!

"fun and funky hotel"
we stayed at the Ace because we were going to the Grammy's. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is a bit gritty, but we found great restaurants and shops nearby and a wonderful farmer's market. If you want something historic and away from the touristy areas, you should try it. My young adult children loved the turntable and classic rock records in the room.

Sunset Tower Hotel

8358 W Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood - Map
"A Private Club Style"
Having just returned from a couple of days in LA, where I again stayed at The Sunset Tower, I can report that this quiet, a little quirky landmark remains my favorite place to park myself when visiting relatives in the West Hollywood, Beverley Hills part of the city. I am welcomed curb-side at the porte cochere, greeted by name at the front desk just inside, quickly given a room (this time an upgrade). There is no hustle and bustle. Some guests come and go, even to walk their dogs. Normally there are no business meetings. There is no conference center that I am aware of. My room is uncluttered. Its most prominent feature is a large mullioned bay window with a view toward the west that is dominated by the towers of Century City and Westwood. There is a spectacular sunset. Instead of a closet there is a three part armoire with plenty of room to handle a two suiter, plus the garments that come out of it. Another section has shelving and drawers. The third section has a mini-bar. The bathroom fixtures are modern. The amenities are high end. The King bed is comfortable with a side table and lamp. There is a desk opposite the bed and a side chair near the window. All the hard goods are in a uniform style for the hotel, which is medium wood trimmed with gold piping. Very mid-20th Century.

"Close to the metro!"
Room was small but had everything you needed. Breakfast was excellent. Never made it back to the hotel in time for the complimentary happy hour. The hotel is one block from the metro so you can essentially go anywhere in LA for $1.75 each direction. We even took to to the airport and saved $75 on cab fare! The hotel was generally nice and staff was quick with check in and out. I'd go back.
