I had my wallet stolen, yet had physical cash from my bank to pay deposit for the night but thrown out into the street at night and forced to go home early while my bank was investigating these people who took my bank card testing it at a grocery store. Absolutely no empathy. Outrageous treatment.

It was a place to stay, probably won’t book again

I booked a shared room in a bunk bed and have stayed in several hostel style situations similar to this one. However, I found Freehands’ shared hostel room to be not very clean and I could smell the other people and their body odor lingering in the room. I don’t feel like the room was cleaned properly between each cleaning, and the linens still felt sort of icky and I don’t feel like the cleaners paid that much attention to detail either.

I liked the vibe, staff was over-the-top accommodating. Room was comfortable with original 1930's (?) decor although the mattress in my room needs replacement. No coffee in room but plenty of great places in the area. Rooftop pool and bar big fun. Easy to commute to/from airport and Dodgers stadium. I did not have a car, looks like they do have parking but it's very pricey. Street was loud as expected but I felt safe. I would stay there again.
