Ithaca Hotel & Travel Guide
Ithaca has a personality unlike any other. A bohemian enclave tucked away among the rolling hills and scenic waterfalls of upstate New York, it's an intellectual center and home to the Ivy League's largest member, Cornell University. Known for its intelligent population, many of whom have a penchant for sustainable food and craft brews, this lovely town also boasts some of the state's most impressive scenery. Lying on the shores of Cayuga Lake and in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Country, Ithaca is truly a treat for the mind, body, and soul. In order to have your choice of Ithaca hotels, book a vacation to Ithaca immediately and get ready for the ultimate one-of-a-kind experience.
Out and About in Ithaca
To borrow a pun from the city's tourism industry, "Ithaca is Gorges." If you're not wandering around the quixotic shops lining the downtown Ithaca Commons, which boast unique wares that can only be described as haute hippie, you should be at the edges of town exploring what Ithaca is famous for: its deep, impressive gorges. Robert H. Treman State Park and Buttermilk Falls State Park are two other nearby natural gems that feature waterfalls, hikes, and of course, gorges. However, if you're looking for excellent panoramic views of the town, head over to Cornell's historic campus, which sits high on a hill. This town has so much to offer that any hotels in Ithaca are bound to be close to the action.
Eating and Drinking
Ithacans are crazy about local food. Menus are seasonal and feature a fine selection of local products, from wine, to salads, to hummus. You haven't been to Ithaca if you haven't indulged in its fantastic Finger Lakes wine, local microbrews, and farm-fresh food. There are restaurants everywhere, but be sure to hit up the downtown Commons and go winery- or restaurant-hopping on the slopes surrounding Cayuga Lake. Travelocity can help you find cheap hotels in Ithaca and flights to Ithaca, so that all you really have to worry about is choosing between all the top-notch eateries!

Ithaca Marriott Downtown on the Commons
"We stayed one night in August 2026. It was a halfway point to where we were going. The location isn’t great. It sits across from a bus terminal and mental health clinic. Pandhandlers come up to you as you’re walking. Some businesses look run down from the outside. Pros - Parking was reasonably priced at $12 - Large room, clean room - Quiet, didn’t hear neighbors - Pierce the maintenance man was great - Easy, quick check in - Beautiful drive getting here Cons - The air freshener or cologne scent in the lobby is very strong. Would likely bother those who have allergies to scents. - No signage in parking garage saying to use the far side of the building (opposite conference center) to get to the lobby. There are two sets of elevators, was a bit confusing. - TV needed to be reset, had to call maintenance but wasn’t a big deal, just worth mentioning - Had to reset the aircon, wasn’t working The pizza restaurant wasn’t officially opened yet so couldn’t try."
