"This was our 7th time staying at Ho’okipa Bay cottage. We asked, can it be any better than the previous 6? Yes! It can! Hank has provided everything we needed…beautiful home, comfy bed, incredible views. We love going to the touristy areas during the day. Then returning home to the lanai, soaking tub, outdoor shower. What a way to re-energize after a long day. We will treasure our memories of Hank’s place and look forward to returning. Our happy pace! Joy and Tom"

"This is an amazing place if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of regular hotels. Please note that there is no TV in the room which was exactly what I wanted. This is a wellness retreat hotel that offers two classes, a day included in the price of the booking . They range from ukulele lesson, to hula dances, yoga, and chi gong lessons. The breakfast is quite nice, you can pre-order lunch for the next day if you like however the restaurant is only open twice a week at this point. The food at the restaurant is exquisite."

"Where else on Maui can you find a seven bedroom, seven bathroom private home that exists in a botanical garden? This place is an Upcountry Shangri-la, whether you’re working or playing. It mixes the utilitarian (see above about bedrooms/ bathrooms) with the Romantic: jaw dropping views, unforgettable sunrises and sunsets, and a view to the night sky that would make an early explorer just as relaxed. I’ll bet there are two dozen interesting trees on the property: an epic Banyan tree, an avocado tree, citrus trees, and many more of the flowering variety I couldn’t identify. There’s a beautiful pool and jacuzzi, and a set of common areas that make you want to hang out. I was part of a crew that was filming on Haleakala. We needed a place up the mountain that would make our daily commute manageable. I highly recommend."

"The space was nice and clean. We had food to take with us during the trip up to sunrise viewing. My son had fun playing with the hosts’ kids. They were all kind and pleasant to talk with. The town, Makawao is a really cute little destination. "
