Transportation from SDQ
Upon disembarking from their Santo Domingo flights, clearing customs, and gathering their luggage, many visitors head to one of the many hotels near Santo Domingo Airport. These hotels are ideal home bases for exploring Santa Domingo. Most are on or near the beach in Boca Chica, which is home to shallow, turquoise waters that make for wonderful diving at La Caleta Underwater Park. To reach a nearby hotel, grab a cab outside the Customs area. Several rental car agencies operate in the hotel, but with cab fare so reasonable, renting a car may be unnecessary. Inexpensive public buses also serve the airport, but they're crowded and somewhat unreliable.
