"wonderful hotel perfect location"
Loved the hotel.  Across the street from the common, the salem Witch museum, a 2 block walk to the peabody/essex museum, and a 5 minute walk to pickering wharf. My only issue with the hotel is due to its age, the entire hotel is on ONE air conditioning setting.  So the lobby was an icebox, but our room on the 5th floor was very hot and stuffy. The only solution management offered was a floor fan, which just blew hot air around.  That was disappointing and the only reason it didn't get perfect marks. BUT, I would still stay there again because the location is so great.

"Great location, wonderful staff"
We don't get to Boston as often as we'd like and, in the past, have stayed close to whatever drew us into town (e.g., for a birthday party in FiDi, we stayed two blocks from the event; tickets to a show--stayed in the theater district). However, this is the third time we've stayed at the Fairmont Copley and we've decided that, without any compelling reason to go elsewhere, we're going to make the Fairmont Copley our home base in Boston. Everything is just so good, we'd rather Uber or cab to get wherever we're going than walk from a closer hotel. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, and the staff is (in our experience) well-trained, friendly, knowledgeable, polite, and willing to try to accommodate special requests. This trip, we arrived early for an event in the afternoon, so I called when we were about a half hour away to ask if early check-in would be possible. We were graciously accommodated. Sunday morning, we also asked if we could leave our vehicle in the garage and our bag at coat check for a few hours after checking out so we could have brunch with our daughter late Sunday morning without having to find parking on the snow-packed streets. I'm sure it is not always possible to coordinate such requests, and we understand that, but it was very nice to once again have our special requests accommodated. The food and service in the Oak Bar is wonderful. The rooms are well-appointed and the common areas are simply beautiful.

"Great location!"
Beware that "cabin" rooms are in the basement and have not even one window. But other than that it was roomy and nice. I actually liked the basement because of easy in and out access to the lobby. Just hope there's not a fire. Nice staff, good location.

"Wonderful historic hotel, impeccably maintained"
Gorgeous hotel, very clean, comfy beds, nice staff. Made good use of the refrigerator--we made a couple of treks to whole foods and kept it stocked. Subway stop is just across the street (only $2.65 from the airport. 15 min ride). Note: subways do not run 24 hours--we took a taxi back to Logan for our early morning flight--that put us out 20 bucks including tip. We highly recommend the Customs House--couldn't be happier.

Concord's Colonial Inn

48 Monument Square, Concord - Map
"Completely charming, helpful staff"
I just spent one night at the Colonial Inn, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the atmosphere, which is enhanced by the period decor and by a rather ramshackle floor plan. The location in the middle of historic Concord was great, and the Inn is about a three minute drive to Walden Pond. My room was clean, comfortable, and I got an excellent night's sleep. The Internet service in the room wasn't super fast, but it worked just fine. While the restaurant smelled great and the bar looked very inviting, I didn't have the chance to try either. Most importantly, the staff was friendly and helpful. I had to ask for directions to drive into Boston and back, and by the time I finished asking, the woman at the front desk had already printed out Mapquest directions to my destination, and then explained them to me. I didn't get lost at all, so I was quite grateful. I would definitely stay there again, given the chance.
