A millennial vibe. Black and white photos, hi tone modern art, lots of booths and bright fabric sofas. A tiny but well appointed room so the trade off is you sleep in a box but have a nice public space to conduct your multiple zoom calls in. Good was average. Bar was terribly corporate with poor choice and mainly crappy brands from the major spirits companies.

This is a new hotel in Boston right at Newbury Street near Berklee College of music. Its styling is very modern and artistic. It opened on August 6, 2025 and therefore everything is sparkling new and shiny. Our room was physically small, but had everything one would need and is fully controlled by an iPad that is included in the room. The pad manages the lighting, television and window shades. The king size bed was very comfortable and there was virtually no sound audible either inside or outside the space. The area felt very safe and was loaded with college students just returning to school. The vibe was very energized, youthful and joyful. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming into the city or having business in the back bay area. Staff were exceedingly helpful at every engagement. If that weren’t enough, there is an open sky bar on the 15th floor with a beautiful view of the city. The expense was more than what we typically would spend on a hotel, but is commensurate with other hotels in the area. We totally enjoyed ourselves at CitizenM, while the name continues to be difficult to remember.

Nice, new hotel downtown Boston

Very clean. Self check-in with minimal staff interaction. The mattress was comfortable but the pillows were not. I was in a wheelchair-accessible room (which I did not request as far as I know) so some of the room features may have been adapted for wheelchair users. In the bathroom there was no counter space for toiletries. The room lights can only be turned on or off all together, with exception of night light feature which is so low you can't really see anything. Curtains are automatic, and again you can only raise or lower all of them or none. They checked my bags on my departure day until my flight. The only reason I am giving it 4 starts instead of 5 is because it did not have coffeemaker in the room.
