Had a great time close to the beach!
We enjoyed staying in this house close to the beach. Loved the eclectic style of the home, beds were super comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped - there were even special treats left for us, and the owners responded to all of our questions right away. We would enjoy staying here again!

Family vacation
We had a fabulous and relaxing time at Dune Cottage! We were able to walk to the beach a couple times to swim and hang out. We drove into South Haven a few times to eat on the water and shop at some of the shops. My husband and oldest son spent a morning on a fishing excursion where they caught different kinds of fish while my youngest and I hung out at the cottage and took a walk to The Field Store to check out what it had to offer. Everything was close and convenient. Most importantly, the property owners were attentive and helpful with anything and everything that we needed! If you enjoy a cute little cottage and amazing Michigan weather, I recommend Dune Cottage!

Quaint Cottage
Spent a week at the Dune Cottage, was easy to find and get in, only hiccup was the listing had the wrong Wi-Fi password but were able to speak with the owner and got that figured out. Cottage was comforted and well equipped for our week stay.

This property is nestled in a quiet neighborhood less than 10 minutes from downtown South Haven. The home is rustic but clean and offers pretty much everything you need for a week exploring Lake Michigan and surrounding areas. The iron water (and smell) was an inconvenience but clean Culligan water was in good supply. We enjoyed the adventure of staying at this spacious cottage for the week!

Cottage location was great for accessing Van Buren State Park and downtown South Haven. The bike trail was less than 1/2 mile from the cottage, and an easy ride into South Haven. The cottage was a typical MI lake cottage, a bit rustic. There is a sulphor smell with the water, but a nuisance more than a problem. The back porch, sunroom and fire pit were awesome. When we arrived smooth jazz was playing on the TV, nice touch. Hosts are easy to reach and super accommodating. Thank you.

Wonderful host!
The people who own this home are sooo nice and accommodating. There were lots of things at the home that helped to make our stay comfortable like body wash, ziplock bags, and plastic cups. The beds were comfy and we were pleased to find the AC on upon arrival. The only reason we rated 4/5 was the water. It's true, the water is a dingy color and does have a strong sulfur smell. The owner does provide drinking water which was wonderful. Other than the water smell, it was a very quiet location and great stay!!!!

Really enjoyed our stay. A few other reviews mentioned the smell of the water... It is not nearly as strong as those reviews suggested. It's well water. It has a slight sulfur smell. I found it no more offensive than traveling to Florida and the water having a brackish odor. PLUS, the owners provide plenty of bottled water for drinking and cooking. The cottage is clean, the kitchen appliances modern, the bed is comfortable and the television choices are plentiful. Did not try to walk to the beach from the cottage, but the state park is close by, there is a free public beach at Pilgrim Haven nature preserve just about 5 minutes up the road (it is rocky - but you can check out all kinds of cool rocks there) or drive into town and go to one of the many public beach access points there. The town itself is very pretty, has lots of shopping and restaurants and there are loads of wineries around (and a few breweries). Best part was the cottage is extremely private and quiet. It's also roomy... A family of 5 could stay there and each of the 3 kids could have their own room. It's not beachfront... Think of it more like staying in a rather modern cabin in the woods that is extremely close to the beach. Would recommend it to all but the most picky traveler. It's an awesome bargain in my book.
