"Nice hotel for the price"
I was leery about staying here because so many people complained about it, but I really had a decent experience and I have nothing to complain about. I stayed here on two separate nights, 8/25/12 and 9/3/12. Both days my room was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I even tore back the sheets to look for bedbugs because some other review complained about them, but I found none. I used the 24-hour shuttle to get to and from the airport, and that worked out perfectly (it’s about a 15 minute drive). I even thought that I would have problems getting to the airport because I had to leave at 3am to catch a 5am flight, but again, there were no problems. Although I didn’t have a chance to wander to downtown Anchorage, I specifically chose this hotel because it was cheaper than other hotels and it was within walking distance of downtown (what I considered doable walking distance). I thought this hotel had a lot of character because it appears to be an old apartment building that they turned into a hotel. You can tell that the decorations and colors are somewhat dated, but seriously, if you’re going to complain about something as trivial as that then probably no hotel can accommodate your high maintenance needs. I kept ‘waiting’ for all these bad things to happen that people were complaining about in other reviews, and nothing happened! I liked this hotel and if I ever get a chance to visit Anchorage again I would definitely stay here.

"THA DIGGITY BOMB!"
Came here with a couple of friends. First thing we did was hit their fitness center. It's small, but I got my cardio in and my abs aren't complaining! Haha. I went out the next morning to eat and they had cabs just waiting outside, which makes it easier for me. Didn't have to call one and wait. Even got my work done on this trip. They provided a computer in the lobby. They got free wifi too, so I got to facetime my boo. Only thing that was bad was the rain but that ain't their fault. I think everyone should stay a night here. Don't be a square, be a triangle, haha. Like their sign, you get it?

"Large rooms"
The room was very large and clean which we appreciated, especially after being in a small cruise ship cabin.  The breakfast was decent and included packaged muffins, granola bars, instant oatmeal, coffee, hot chocolate and apples. No cold drinks, but we used the vending machine on our floor. Be sure to sign up for the airport shuttle when u check in, bc you are supposed to give 24 hour notice. This really was a nice hotel, just a few blocks from the "downtown" area, but we did have one problem. There was construction on the roof right outside out room. Seriously, right outside our window were construction workers hammering on the roof. My husband called the front desk at 7:25 pm and was told it would be done at 7:30.  Then at 7:45 he called back and was told by the same rude girl that it would be done at 8:00pm. We wanted to get an early night before our long flight the next day. The front desk girl working in the evening was very rude on the phone. The next morning, about 8:30 am, they started the construction again. This time I called the front desk. I explained that we were trying to get well-rested before our long flights back to Miami FL. This girl was very kind and I could tell she wanted to help. She was able to get the workers to stop the work directly outside our window. At least until we checked out at 11 am.  By the way, if you are trying to decide if you should stay in Anchorage an additional night after a cruises I would not stay there. It is just like any small city, there really wasn't much to see or do, that we hadn't done on our cruise. All the good tours want to take you back to the cruise port area to see glaciers and wildlife. Anchorage is far away from anything that I would be remotely interestingly and the souvenir shops are way more expensive than the cruise port souvenir shops. We ate at a couple unimpressive restaurants while we were there and went to a weekend- only flea market. We also checked out shops and looked for running salmon, to no avail. We kept saying we wished we had flown out directly after our cruise. Also, it stinks having to start paying for mediocre food, after all the delicious free cruise food.
