Occidental at Xcaret Destination - All Inclusive
"The resort itself is absolutely beautiful! We loved seeing all the lovely animals while walking around the property. Our room was clean, and resort was very kid-friendly. Our kids had a great time and really enjoyed their stay. Our biggest issue was the lack of clear instructions and some of our interactions with staff. From the moment we arrived, there was confusion with staff receiving our luggage. They were not very welcoming, did not clearly explain where we needed to go or what we were supposed to do. Unfortunately, we experienced similar confusion again when leaving on our last day. Another thing we did not appreciate was the pressure from some of the staff stationed at the desks near the buildings. They repeatedly asked for our room number and were very persistent about tours and gifts. At one point, we were given a beach bag as a gift. Afterward, however, we were told that we could not keep it unless we agreed to take a tour, and there was also mention of the staff having to give a $10 USD deposit. The whole situation was extremely confusing and made us uncomfortable. I told my husband to simply return the beach bag. He also gave the staff member a $20 USD tip just so we could move on and be left alone. We were traveling with three other families staying at the resort, and the same staff member later approached one of the families in our group in a similar manner. This made the experience feel even more uncomfortable and unnecessarily pushy."
