"I really wanted to love this place and give it all the stars but there were a few things we just couldn’t ignore. This place is big but it is old. A lot of the contents are outdated and it’s in need of a deep cleaning or refurbish. It was good for our weekend family trip and we aren’t picky but it wasn’t the highest quality it could have been. We had an issue with ants during our stay. All 4 days we were there, we found ants crawling in both kitchens. We were very good about not leaving food out or leaving doors open but we think they were coming through the floor. The ho did send someone out to help us but they couldn’t do anything in the moment to help. Additionally, during our stay, there was an unannounced maintinence check on the hot tub. The host did say they do that regularly but it was weird having maintinence in the house during our stay without warning. We had several light fixtures in the house that were broken and overall the fans/lighting are really dusty. This place has a rustic feel but it was also just dirty. We still had a fun trip and it was nice having so many bedrooms and bathrooms. Hottub did work and was a nice relaxing part. Plenty of seating in the house for meals and games. A lot of the furniture and linens in the photos isn’t current. The towels are nice. Several pillows and mattresses had stains on them when we removed covers at the end."
