Location at the beach and near Denman shopping & dining is everything. Bed was old and uncomfortable, as were the pillows. Shower head and flow control were good, but old fashioned tub made getting in & out difficult...poor substitute for handicap access, which was not available. Dining room was pleasant with views of the shore, but food was only average despite attempts at elegant dining. No a/c or climate control.

Noise in the morning outside the hotel with the "chatty" marathon supporters, at 6am, as the hotel is on the marathon route. We stayed one night May3, BMO marathon.

I've stayed many times at The Sylvia

Always enjoy staying at The Sylvia. Love the quiet and quaint location. Right by the seawall, Stanley Park, and restaurants. Love that it's a boutique hotel and an historical landmark; photos of stories long passed displayed throughout the hotel.The staff are warm and friendly and provide exceptional service. I've stayed many times. Yes I highly recommend.

Everything was wonderful. The front desk staff was wonderful with my dog. My only complaint is that the guy that delivered my Room Service, I think was afraid of dogs. I don't think a hotel that wonderfully accepts dogs should have staff whom are afraid of dogs. He asked me to close the door as I put my food into my room.
