Great location, but needs updating

Pros: Location is great.
Cons: SAFETY ISSUES NEED TO BE RESOLVED!!!! Needs new carpet, paint, and new doors throughout the hotel.
Location: Close to Sea World, Ocean Beach, Mission Beach. Easy access to I-5. Mission Bay bike path right next to hotel.
The hotel is a bit run down - it needs remodeling. They charge $38 per day for parking, which is too high. VERY DISAPPOINTED ABOUT SAFETY. One of the pool ladders was broken - a sharp metal tube protruding a couple of inches from the deck where it broke off. It was covered with a blue cone that is easily moved - NO SAFETY SIGNS!!!! This should be fixed immediately before a child or adult steps on it with bare feet and gets a giant cut, sending them to the emergency room!!!

Dear JFR, Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback about your recent stay. We apologize that you felt that we did not take safety concerns seriously but we want to assure you that our guest safety is extremely important to us. We covered the broken ladder to alert guests and then as quickly as possible sent it to be fixed by a custom technician. The ladder is back in working order now and we hope that you will still consider us for future stays in San Diego. All the best, DON DENNIS Managing Director

Great, family friendly and romantic beach hotel

Pros: I enjoyed the restaurant, access to the beach and the fire pits. Proximity to Sea World treated us with a firework show!
Cons: Our room smelled a little like sewage.
The hotel is beautiful and perfect for a family vacation or romantic retreat. Located in a centralized location, close to San Diego and right on Mission Bay, next to a park. Great restaurant, beach access with plenty of water amenities.

Dear Rachel, We're so glad you and your family appreciated our scenic site on Mission Bay, our culinary offerings at Acqua our California Bistro was a palate pleasing experience, and the fireworks display right over the water in front of the resort was a fun surprise! With so much to do and see right here on site and just beyond, we hope to welcome you back in the near future. Warmest regards, ELIZABETH MELENDEZ, Hotel Manager

Nice Location.

I just finished a 3 night stay with my family and we were very pleased with the location of the hotel. Not only was it a quick 10-15 minute drive from the zoo but also a very short walk from our room to the beaches on the bay. My 3 year old loved the pool and playing on the beach. Unfortunately I was hit with a bit of a surprise when I was checking in: "Would you like to purchase parking?" Unsure of my options the lady at the counter proceeded to tell me that we are welcome to park on the street but would have to move the car between the hours of 2am and 4am because the city won't allow parking during those hours. Well then, I suppose I don't really have a choice but to purchase the parking. Turns out they really take advantages of this and the daily rate is $36. The room was very nice and had a fire pit right outside on the patio which also overlooked the nightly fireworks from Sea World. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a microwave in addition to the typical mini-fridge which came in handy since there aren't many options for food in a close vicinity. Just like the parking fees, the restaurant takes advantage of the exclusivity. After spending $70.00 on a burger (mediocre at best) and a typical pasta dish, without drinks, we decided to just stock up the fridge and get some use out of the microwave. TL;DR: Nice hotel, great location, absurd extra charges and prices. Staff are friendly, especially the cleaning staff. Would seek out alternatives in the future.

Dear Nick, Many thanks for the visit and feedback, Brandon. We're thrilled that you enjoyed our site and its offerings, but disappointed you were surprised by our fees on your arrival. We work hard to be forthright and transparent at the booking process and we apologize if this was not sufficiently communicated prior to your arrival. Thank you for giving us an opportunity to welcome you and we hope you will reconsider a return visit. All the best, DON DENNIS Managing Director

Nice hotel, good time BUT.....

Pros: Great Service!
Cons: Resort fees should included some amenities. Bike rental should be covered by these fees esepcially in the colder months where you cant use the beach
Location: Sea world and beach nearby
Let me start by saying this is a nice hotel, right on the beach, pools are nice and there are many activities and Sea world is just minutes way. The service was great as well, food was ok. HOWEVER, be for warned. There are daily fees at this resort of a whopping $65.00 a day!! (resort fee of 29 and PARKING IS $36.00). I knew aboutt he resort fees when i booked but for whatever reason i did not know about the parking fee which i think is just extremely high. especially when you have to park your car yourself and 2 nights it was so crowded i had to park pretty far away from my room and walk. The resort fees included things like access to the pool? Housekeeping? coffee makers? ect.. these are all things that are free in most hotels so Im a little confused by that. Over all we had a good time, but 260 in fees alone i feel is just very high.

Great location!

While a great location near the Bay, near Sea World, great pool and honestly great restaurant with live music and view!  But be careful of room placement.  Bottom floor can face parking lot or service entrance (still paying a lot).  Had to be asked to be moved the first day (which I never do!) due to location and felt like I paid a lot for a Motel 6 room...once moved so much better and happier!!!!  Would go back after knowing which areas to ask for.

March Spring break for mother/daughter absolutely the best medicine!

Pros: lots to do onsite
Cons: No free Internet
My daughter and I planned a last minute spring break getaway and were able to get a deal for flight and hotel to go west cheaper than it was to go south. So, because it was just us two ladies with no car, we needed an all inclusive place. Room service, breakfast buffet, sitting on deck chairs with morning drinks, beach walks, getting a car or taxi to get anywhere in San Diego was so easy, and the staff was amazing. The consierge found us a great sunset yoga session (We tried to do this on our own at first and ended up in a "not so reputable" area, so our Hilton driver brought us to another location for a nice safe beach walk instead.) and signed us up for a sunset dinner cruise. We even did the San Diego trolley tour (which picked us up at the hotel & returned us at the end of the day). Everything went perfectly and we had a terrific time. We have and will continue to recommend this place to all of our friends & family. Can't wait to come back again with the rest of my family. Thanks to everyone at the Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa. We loved meeting all of you and appreciated having a wonderful and relaxing week with you! You made each day special!

Nice hotel friendly people.

Pros: Quiet
Cons: No free Internet
We arrived earlier than the check in time and were able to choose our room. Liked that. The staff all around was very friendly and they really go out of there way to keep the place clean. Actually saw someone dusting the stop sign as you left the hotel. Only thing is charging for parking and the shuttle sevice they use is very expensive. But overall really liked the place alot.
