"Great for Family"
The Palladium was great. My wife and I took our kids (14, 10) to Mexico last year. The Palladium was a great choice. There were plenty of activities on the resort itself; we didn't leave the resort for the entire week. Snorkeling was great right off the beach. There were always plenty of chairs available at the pools or the beach. The beach was long, clean and only used by Palladium guests. The buffets weren't bad, the other restaurants were great. Easy access to all areas of the resort via trolly. Oh yeah, iguanas everywhere. Somewhat shocking until you realize where they hang out most of the time. Will definitely go back...at least when the drug cartel issues are fixed in Mexico.

"beautiful hotel, disappointed in all inclusive"
We went to a Couples all-inclusive resort in Jamaica and were told not to tip. At Barceló, you are told you can tip if you want. they said some people give $1-$2 USD for wait staff, bartenders, & housekeeping. We didn't want to tip since we hadn't budgeted for the extra money, and because of principle... we thought tips should be included in an all-inclusive. However we quickly learned the staff treat you much nicer if you tip (even if it's just $1). So we started doing that, but it disappointed me. I wanted to bring my breakfast food & coffee back to our hotel room, but that was not allowed. There were a few snacks & sodas in the mini bar in the room which was nice (those were free), however, the housekeepers did not restock our snacks regularly. Things like the water park & nighttime mini golf cost extra. $20 per person for the VERY SMALL water park. And $10 per person for nighttime mini golf. There are lots of things to do during the day but not much for families in evenings. That being said, the place is absolutely gorgeous. We had plenty of pool and beach space, even though we were there during the busy season. There was lots of free water activities which we loved, and the a-la-carte restaurants (which are included but you can only go a limited number of times) had AMAZING food. Overall, we loved our stay and would go again, but only if we can find a better deal, I think the price we paid was high considering some of the things that disappointed me noted abov

"1 week at Sandos, family of 4"
-Resort: 5/5 stars. The site is beautiful with lots of trees, cents to swim in, wild animals to check out and even Mayan ruins to discover. bring bug spray. -Room: 4/5 stars. Our room smelled a bit damp. We aerated the room all day everyday while we were outside. Night entertainment: 5/5 stars. Excellent. The Mayan shows were great. They have real professionals running and enacting these shows. -Food: 5/5 stars. Excellent, whether a buffet or an a la carte restaurant. -Beach: 1/5 stars, and I’m being generous. This is more about where the resort is located on the coast obviously, but if you're looking to spend your time swimming at the beach, then this is not the right resort for you. The beach is small, VERY rocky. If you have kids, then it's very tough to have them swim in the sea without hurting themselves. Pools: 4/5 stars. Many to pick from. The aqua park is great for the kids. -Staff: 5/5 stars. Everyone is great, friendly, helpful and always smiling. They work VERY hard all day, but always find the time to say hello or try to help. -Resort activities: 4/5 starts - The kids club is alright, while I wish they had more outdoor activities for kids. For adults, there is a nice selection of things to do, from swimming in the cenote with a guide to swimming along the river. Yohan was a great (and funny) guide for the river adventure. Overall: 4/5 stars, one star short of five because the beach, to me, is an important factor to consider. We still had a great time!

"Traveling with the kids"
We stayed here last week, for 8 nights. We have stayed in several all-inclusives, including the Grand Velas in Puerto Vallarta. There were four of us, including two kids 8 and 10 years old. First the good: - Best pool I have ever seen. Huge, and perfect for the kids to play in, which they did for 6 hours every day. Beautiful infinite pools, and nice swim up bar, right up to the ocean. The only pool that compares to this is the Grand Velas in Puerto Vallarta. No slides or anything, but the kids still loved it. We never had a hard time getting a chair, but more on that later. -Best food you will ever have at an all-inclusive. 5 star food all of the way, many courses, and you feel like you are eating at the fanciest restaurant in your town, every night. Kids menus at the restaurants that allow kids. I thought is was nice to have some restaurants that do not allow kids, nice to be just my husband and me, and send them to the kids club. -rooms are a good size, with a big patio, that we hung out at a lot. We had a great ocean view that was perfect. Good mini bar that they restock every day, and they will put in things you like, if asked. - great service everywhere, loved Julio at the swim up bar. Always remembered the kids, and made them ask for things in spanish, which was a great way for them to learn. -we were upgraded to the ambassador section, because they were doing some work at the Zen, so glad we were. Nice to be near everything. We did see the Zen section, still very nice, but you would get the jungle feel, and no ocean views at all. Bigger kids club though, which might be nice, if it were busier. Things that were just ok: -No one was there the first week of June. Don't know why. The prices are high, but worth it, and the place was only at 15% capacity, so nice to always get your chairs and reservations, but would have been better to have bit more going on. - there were a few other kids there, but my kids connected with none, like they have at other resorts, so boring for them on that regard. The kids club did none of their scheduled activities, so it was just a place for them to hang out and play xbox, while we went to dinner -Nothing going on at night at all, no music, no bar happenings, nothing. I don't want a raging party, but it would have been nice to have something. I know the place wasn't full, but I wish there was something to do after 9:00. -The rooms are nice, but loud, you can hear everything going on in the bathroom, which isn't always good. The beds are comfortable, but I prefer the rooms at the Grand Velas in Puerto Vallarta. There are two bathrooms in the rooms, and the bedroom area is shut off with a door, so really nice. I was hoping for that here. -the beach itself is nice, with fine white sand, but no place to actually play in the ocean. You can walk 10 minutes either side to do that, but nicer, if it were just in front. Such a great pool, so that helped. Over all really great, we had a nice time, and will probably be back. I think if we were there at a different time of year, I would have all raves.

"nice resort close to beach"
Went for my son's wedding. Everything turned out beautiful, but my daughter in law was not happy with her wedding planner, Lillian. She was not even around on the day of the wedding. So, if you are planning a wedding, request a different wedding planner. Very large resort, 5 hotels. You can take a tractor to the other hotels, but it is faster to walk if you are able. There is something for everyone, very small casino, daily activities, non-motorized water sports, including paddle boards, nice kiddie water park, tons of pools. Many children were there. The drinks were not weak, but if you want stronger drinks, just ask. I did not find the bed too hard to sleep as others have said. At the check in desk, I was told that the mattresses were new. I did find the sheets to be a different texture, but still I was able to sleep. Beach: Yes, as others have said, there are some rocks, but the water is so clean and blue they can be seen and just walk around them. There was only one day when there was seaweed in the water. Other than that day, water was blue and clear. Restaurants: You can make 3 reservations per day. Hung out at the Carey Bar - open 24 hrs. I would recommend this resort.

"Beautiful resort, beach and wonderful people"
Stayed from 9/03 - 9/13 and had a wonderful time. Resort is beautiful, food is great and the people who work at the resort are extremely sweet and helpful. Just about everything you could possibly want is located within the resort itself. This was our second stay at the Barceló Maya Tropical and we will return, hopefully, for a third vacation.
