The staff was rather kind and pleasant. However no one told us that the property was undergoing renovations and preparing to close. As a result the tarps that were up and shielding many of the buildings were unsightly. There was a lot of slack of staff in maintaining things such as the pool because they were preparing to close so there was constantly debris (bee’s, water bugs, leaves, etc) floating in the pool. In the kids sections of specially tiles were missing in the pool and mold was floating. It wasn’t pleasant. The

The property was not cleaned regularly. There was raccoons roaming around and in the property day and night. The staff did not clean regularly. There was a q-tip and plantain chip in the elevator for 3 days. Trays were stacked up outside the room doors for days before being collected. The elevator was out of service for numerous days, and when taking the stairs the food trays, towels, bedding, etc would be laying on the ground along the stairs. Very disappointed with this Royalton hotel and the service provided by MOST of the staff.

I’ve traveled to so many places and countries and this place by far had the rudest employees. Everyone talks back with attitude and make you feel like you don’t belong. Room was so disgusting! Hair everywhere and mold on tubs. DO NOT go here especially with kids.

You will need to get to the pool early, especially for a big group. The shaded chairs go fast . The bartenders are amazing and keep your drink filled

Staff is not professional. Rude and no customer services. Place had lots of ants and mosquitos. Going back home with 20 mosquitos bites. Restaurants staff are not nice either. They are rude and not happy at all.

Great selection of restaurants and evening entertainment. Wonderful spa too: very relaxing. Room service staff very friendly. Pools clean and it was easy to get a sunbed even without setting an early morning alarm. Great, relaxing holiday overall. Chichen Itza and Cenote excursion was amazing too.

After reaching out to both Expedia and Royalton Riviera I was assured renovations would not begin until 8/18, however they were deep in to it with entire wings shut down. Our family booked four rooms with my parents being shut in after the first night as they sealed off the entry way to the main lobby causing them to go all the way around with my mother in a wheelchair. We also had to be moved after a few days due to a major leak from the room above and all of this with no extra compensation. Really disappointed in this experience.

I believe they’re in transition with remodeling however, the elevators were my largest complaint. Slow and hot like a sauna.

Don’t waste your money on Royalton — the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The room was in very poor condition, with all the walls peeling. We couldn’t use the jacuzzi because it was so unsafe you could fall if you got in. The rooftop pool was dirty and peeling, the air conditioning was terrible, and both the buffet and the service were awful. You can even see cockroaches walking on the walls of the buffet. You can try calling customer service, but no one answers. On the first day, they literally sent us to fix the sofa ourselves so that my kids could sleep, saying it wasn’t hard to do. We spent three days with diarrhea from the food. The worst experience I’ve ever had in all my trips to Cancún — they will never see me there again.

Beautiful property, renovations are being made so I can only imagine how it would look once completed. Kind staff and welcoming environment. Antonio by the main pool is amazing! David for pool activities super energetic and funny! Overall enjoyed our stay.

The staff were very friendly for the most part, the rooms were very big but had a horrible smell of sitting water, the pools looked like they were never cleaned and the facility was run down and had many cockroaches. I have been to Mexico many times and can’t remember when I saw a cockroach on the property.
