Staff were so gregarious and professional! Everyone was lovely and responsive, I felt listened to. People clearly cared for their guests, and took pride in their jobs. 10/10 stay, very impressed by both the gorgeous property, and the warm personnel.

Really bad experience
Check in was a nightmare. Gave grace due to the ice storm that Portland is not accustomed to. Went to first room assigned on 8th flr (was told the heat was not working on 1-4 floors). People were already checked into the room that I was given a key to. Back down to the desk with all of our stuff! Told we could have room on 3rd flr. “We were told there was no heat?!” Desk manager went up, flipped a switch and so “oh no it’s working.” We were starving and exhausted. Said “okay” went to dinner. Came back, chilly but a little heat. Thought “old hotel”. Woke up at 1am freezing!!! Slept with ski gear on. Asked for refund. Denied. Fought with two different people. Finally refunded first night. Not held to second night. Stayed here for business plenty years ago. Customer service has deteriorated significantly.

The location of this establishment is overwhelmed with homeless. However, they do have a security guard at the entrance so there is some comfort in knowing you’re not alone.

Lovely getaway!
Fabulous stay in this lavish hotel! We felt pampered the moment we stepped foot onto the sidewalk. The lobby is truly stunning, our hotel room was clean, plenty of pillows for all the ladies (iykyk)! We will definitely be returning here! Prices on rooms were very affordable, room service was so friendly! The gym was fully loaded with all the bells and whistles!

Great central location, beautiful historic lobby comfy rooms. The lobby level restaurant is excellent for breakfast or dinner. It’s called the Palm Court and opens seamlessly into the wood columned, high ceiling lobby with chandeliers.

The bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. The lobby is gorgeous and the staff were super helpful. I had hairs on my pillow that did g belong to me so that was quite disgusting and off putting but they switched them out quite quickly.

We would definitely stay again!
It was great, front desk staff was kind and courteous and helpful. The cleaning staff was wonderful and very kind. We walked to Powell's, shopping, good food, food trucks, and Stumptown coffee. The location was perfect for us, and we were able to find paid street parking easily.

The hotel was great. The area is filled with drug users and dealers. They are blatantly everywhere. The homeless population was massive. Makeshift tent homes were everywhere

I stay at the Benson often, I love it. It has a lot of history and character. As a union hotel, I get to know the staff and they me. They completed a major renovation of all guest rooms a couple of years ago, including the bathrooms rooms, and they are very comfortable. I do miss the old bathrooms with the soaking tubs, but times change and so do bathroom fixtures. The bedding is really nice, and they're generous with pillows. Housekeeping does an excellent job. Overall, the service at the Benson is friendly, professional and dependable. Great downtown location with most points of interest within walking distance or a quick Uber/taxi ride aesy. Valet parking makes it super easy. Thank you, Benson for an excellent stay.

Received a random charge a week after staying at the hotel that wasn't discussed when I was there. I neither showered nor used anything in the room. This is unacceptable.
