Location was perfect close to underground,London eye, Trafalgar Square and quaint restaurants. The staff and service are over accommodating. The room service dining was deliscious! The morning croissants and tea and the complimentary mini bar were just an added bonus. The doorman was charming, the roaring fireplace and fresh flowers in the lobby were perfect! Love, love, love! We will be back!

Compliments are always a pleasure and I am so happy to hear that we exceeded your expectations in all areas. We are in an enviable location - only a short scenic stroll away from the tourist hot spots of Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, and Downing Street. Or for a bit of culture in the Capital, the National Portrait Gallery, Tate Modern and Somerset House are minutes away too!

Great hotel in a great location for London!

I booked this fantastic hotel along with airfare via Travelocity. Stayed 10 days. The Royal Horseguard is located walking minutes from Parliament across the river from the London Eye. It is located 400 feet from a subway station which is attached to the Charring Cross Train Station. The hotel is walking distance to the 7 theaters we attended during our ten day vacation. The room (#701) was great.....clean.....modern.....has a fridge. The staff was great and very very helpful. The price through Travelocity was a steal! I am planing another trip to London next year and will stay at the Royal Horseguard. Ben Francis Tarsitano, DDS, MD

Pros vs Cons

Pros: Location and river views
Cons: Pro active listening and responding to customer request and or complaints.
Location: Great location, poor management.
Pros: Great location River view Courteous staff Comfortable Bed Coffee/Tea service in room Cons: Dangerous bathroom for older people- bathtub set higher than floor, shower curtains let water through onto floor, step out of tub to lower floor and wet bathmat leads to slipping and falling. I fell once, wife fell twice. Rubber mats are available from housecleaning after you fall on your butt. Requested roll away in advance, reception had no idea when we arrived. Was requested for 4 nights, after 3rd night bed was removed even though I already paid for 4 nights. Called desk, sent another bed but only had 2 legs, brought another that was dirty and very worn and tattered. TV volume was horrible. % star hotel had only BBC channels, nothing else. Complained 4 times and was told a manager would contact us to correct the problem-Never happened. No bed turn down and/or water on 2 of 7 nights, 2 nights regular water was substituted with sparkling water, who drinks that in the middle of the night? Dirty dishes, empty bottles, etc, not removed after room service. Pillows very uncomfortable Door slams EVERY time for your room and EVERYONE ELSE. Never had any manager response while there for a week. Tried to get resolution by contacting the manager via email after trip was over. Michael Penny responded by email but only refunded one night charge for roll away. Nothing for bruises on wife and myself, terrible TV, poor room service, etc.

Great location. Great history to building.

Staff all quit one week prior to our stay so disorganized. Hotel elegant. Clean. Quiet and safe!

Good location

Was in a good location and it was an OK hotel. It wasn't my first choice but it ended up working out just fine. 10 minute walk to Trafalgar Square and a two minute walk to embankment tube station. Didn't use any of the hotel facility so I'm not really sure about them.

Disappointing Hotel

Pros: Nothing
Cons: The rooms need to be maintained. There is lose tile and broken fixtures in 3 rooms I changed to, which tells me the whole hotel is like this.
Location: Great location, walking distance to the London Eye and Buckingham Palace
Hotel is very worn and run down. I reserved 2 beds and when I got there I was given a full size for 2. The ceiling shower head and jets did not work. I complained and was moved to a second room where the tile in the bathroom floor and walls were lose. The shower head on this room was falling from the ceiling. I moved to a third room which was larger but smelled old and once again, lose tile in the bathroom. This is a very old building and obviously there is no maintenance. The hallways are very narrow and the old stingy smell is in every floor. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It is extremely over priced for the quality its in.

You can't find a better hotel!

The hotel was great. Beautiful, clean, great views, professional and courteous staff, and perfect location for Central London. Everything is within walking distance - Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Gardens, SOHO, Buckingham Square, Tower of London, London Eye and Westminster Abby. Quiet, yet in the heart of everything. Very close to the Tube, riverboat cruises and hop-on/hop-off tour buses.

Lovely staff and location!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, large rooms, amenities
Spent a week at The Royal Horseguards and would highly recommend this hotel for its location, service and relaxing atmosphere. After taking the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station we continued on the tube to Embankment and the hotel was just across the street. In fact, the location was tremendously convenient - walking distance to Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey and of course tube right there, so easy access to every part of the city. The rooms were large, comfortable beds and nice amenities. We like to have a nightcap when we come in after dinner so our only disappointment was that the bar rarely stayed open, but luckily the Bassoon Bar across the way at The Corinthia Hotel did stay open late. The staff was attentive and accommodating, and always very helpful. Would absolutely recommend this hotel and hope to stay here again.

SPECIFY & CONFIRM IF YOU NEED 2 TWIN BEDS

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
We reserved 2 twin beds through this site and had a confirmation email specifying that's what we would receive. Unfortunately, when we arrived they had given our room with 2 beds away bc there was some glitch that indicated only 1 adult would be in the room. They didn't have another twin room available so we were placed in a king room for one night and then moved the next night. Aggravating but mgmt compensated us for the error. Just CONFIRM directly with the hotel if you require 2 beds. Other than that, the hotel was wonderful. It is a beautiful building. The king bed was very comfortable. The twin beds were hard though. The room was lovely, had a great view of the London Eye/Thames and was in a great location. Walking distance to many sites and only a few steps from Embankment tube stop. There is a 24 hour market between the Embankment tube & the hotel. I thought the first floor room facing the Thames was a little noisy. The 5th floor room facing the Thames was very quiet though. Apparently the mini fridge has a sensor, so if you move their items to keep your own drinks, cool, charges will appear on your bill. They will remove the charges but it's just an annoyance. We would stay again in a heartbeat!
