Pros: Almost everything, the door man, Rodney, was simple awesome. The front desk staff were exceptional. The room spotless every time they cleaned.
Cons: Maybe insulate the rooms a bit more, the walls are thin and you can hear people talking. Other than that, it was great just like 20 years ago.
Location: Location, location and location. Your in the heart of most everything. I walked to Trafalgar Square, Eye of London, Theaters galore and museums.
I loved staying at the Strand, this is the 2nd time, the 1st time was 20 years ago. The staff was very nice and most cheerful. I was exhausted from my flight from the West coast and the young lady who waited on me could tell, she got me into my room in no time. As you say in England, she was brilliant. Thank you.

Location great, otherwise, meh

Pros: Location
Cons: Rooms need to be renovated
Selected Strand Palace based upon friend's recommendation for location and convenience to St. Paul's and City of London and that's true. The common areas of the hotel were okay and the wifi was good. Most disappointing was the condition of my room. When I booked the package, I knew I was getting a single room so I wasn't surprised that the room really was very small. Most disappointing was the condition of the bathroom. The sink and tub drains wouldn't clear and needed to be snaked. The faucets were pitted, bath mats and tub were stained. Even the tissue box was old and torn.

NO Air conditioning. Upgrade was VERY expensive.

Pros: Location was super. It was close to so many things we were interested in seeing and doing.
I was shocked to have a room with no air conditioning, then to have a big UP charge to get a room that DID have air conditioning. This was a cut into our budget. I have gone back to my original reservation and I do not see where I would have known this was even a possibility!

Very nice hotel close to all of the action.

Pros: We chose this place for location, and although London is very pricey, felt we got a great value.
Location: Central location and close to a tube for venturing out.
We stayed at The Strand Palace for four nights and loved being centrally located. We had requested an early check in, as our flight arrived at 10am, and our room was ready for us! We had a standard double room, which was a little small but we did not spend a lot of time there so it did not matter much. We included the breakfast, which was worth it! We took advantage of the exercise facility and the bar.

Not Palatial

Pros: Location, shower. Service was pretty good. Nice bar.
Cons: The lobby and hallways need a renovation, the place just smells and looks worn down. Soundproofing the windows facing the street would help.
Location: Covent Gardens, theaters, National Gallery, close to the financial district.
Small room, though that's generally what you get with non-high end London hotels. Musty smell in the lobby was off-putting, and much of the common areas are time-worn. Comfortable bed, tiny closet, could hear my neighbor's TV until I "asked" them to turn it down. Unfortunately I had a room overlooking the Strand, and on Friday night it was noisy down on the street until 3 AM. Good location, walk to Trafalgar Square and the City, right in the theater district with lots of restaurants and pubs. My phone didn't work so my wake-up "calls" were actually a knock on the door by the hotel staff.

The Strand Palace-Practically Close to EVERYTHING!

Pros: The location of the Strand is ideal! Centrally located to many attractions, restaurants, etc with fast inexpensive underground transportation close by
Cons: The Strand sets the standard for the hotel industry!!
Location: Perfect location close to many attractions and fast and efficient underground transportation.
This was our first visit to London together. Although I had been there many times since as a member of the military and stayed at military installations, I never traveled to London as a tourist. Although we reviewed many locations to stay, the Strand was in an ideal location and VERY close to walking to various sites or taking the underground tubes (subway). The Strand also had free Wi-Fi and several computers for guests use. We arrived at Heathrow Airport, had purchased our Tube passes on line, and walked to the lower floor of the airport to catch the tube. I was about a 45 minute ride and left us off at Covent Garden which was a short 5 minute walk to the Strand. The room, cleanliness and service at the Strand was simply OUTSTANDING! The staff was friendly, the meals were superb and we had a great stay. Many sites are in walking distance from the Strand and it is surrounded with many restaurants, etc.. Covent Garden also had many restaurants, shops and entertainment. There is also a large Apple store there in case you need assistance with any Apple product! Bottom line; The Strand clearly exceeded our expectation and a hotel of first choice when visiting London!

Not a 4 star hotel at all.

Pros: Good firm matrress; pillows ok; Safe;Espresso machine; good cleaning staff.
Cons: See two above. The room needs so much I can't go over it again.
Location: Good location within walking distance from Theaters. Across the street on the Strand from the Savoy.
Good firm mattress; good staff & helpful Duty Managers. Good coffee Espresso machine; has a safe However, rooms are not close to American standards; no refrigerator, no hair dryer plug in the bathroom; little space for two peoples cosmetic/ other items. Mirror at a long distance in bedroom from plugs. One towel rack for two large towels that we wished to re-use. Lost water without warning at midnight once- no water coming into the sink at all. Staff said they'd move us but Honestly, would you wish to move between 12mn- 1 am? No chest of drawers ( two shelves only) & no Armoire/ wardrobe but a hanging area for clothes. No ironing board/iron. And all this for $365. King size room. It was so awful it was laughable. Never again.

Great location

Pros: Very clean. Courteous staff. Breakfast buffet was good.
Cons: Crowded front lobby during check-out and check-in.
Location: Easy walk to the subway.
Hotel in great location, within walking distance of the subway, and to museums and Parliment. Breakfast was a generous, hot and cold buffet, all you could eat, with lots of protein options. Staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Room was adequately appointed, and though on the cramped size, was comfortable and extremely clean. Beds were comfortable, and shower had lots of warm/hot water. Appreciate the cookies left every day at t he in-room coffee pot, which made a great bedtime snack! When returning to London, will definitely look here for a comfortable rest.
